Inter’s Calhanoglu Doubtful for cremonese Clash, Frattesi & Sucic Potential Replacements
Inter midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu is a major doubt for tonight’s Serie A match against Cremonese, with coach Cristian Chivu poised too make a late decision before teh team departs for San Siro. This marks the first time this season the Turkish international faces potential exclusion from the starting lineup.
The concern stems from a right leg issue first observed following Inter’s Champions League victory over Slavia Prague. Calhanoglu was seen leaving the mixed zone at San Siro with a slight limp. While the initial impact was significant, his condition has improved, and he is technically available. However, Chivu is hesitant to risk aggravating the injury.
Calhanoglu has been a consistent starter under Chivu, missing only the opening match against Torino due to a prior suspension carried over from last season. he has played the full 90 minutes in Inter’s subsequent matches against Udinese, Cagliari, and Slavia Prague.
Should Calhanoglu be rested, Davide Frattesi or Petar Sucic are the leading candidates to fill the central-right midfield role. Frattesi, who has recovered from recent stomach problems, would be making his first league start for Inter. Nicolò barella is prepared to cover Calhanoglu’s passing duties in midfield should either Frattesi or Sucic be selected.
