Frankie Muniz Shares First Look at ‘Malcolm in the Middle’ Revival with On-Screen brothers
Actor frankie Muniz posted a photo on social media this week featuring himself alongside castmates Erik Per Sullivan and Justin Berfield, offering fans the first glimpse of the upcoming Malcolm in the Middle revival. The image,shared on Instagram,marks a significant moment for fans of the beloved 2000s sitcom,which is returning to streaming via Disney+.
The revival, consisting of four episodes, brings back Muniz, Bryan Cranston, Jane Kaczmarek, and Catherine Lloyd in their original roles. However, Erik Per Sullivan, who played Dewey, is not participating in the reboot as he is currently pursuing higher education at Harvard, reportedly working towards a masterS degree. Caleb Ellsworth-Clark has taken on the role of Dewey in the revival. Kiana madeira joins the cast as Malcolm’s girlfriend.
According to Cranston, sullivan expressed support for the revival but declined to reprise his role, stating he hadn’t acted since childhood and was focused on his studies. Linwood Boomer returns as writer and executive producer. Cranston also serves as an executive producer alongside Tracy Katsky of KatCo, Gail Berman, director Ken Kwapis, and New Regency’s Arnon Milchan, Yariv Milchan, and Natalie Lehmann. Jimmy Simons and Laura Delahaye are co-executive producers.
Muniz has described filming the revival as a deeply fulfilling experience, stating he “loved” it and believes audiences will be pleased with the direction the story takes. Malcolm in the Middle originally ran from 2000-2006, winning seven Emmy Awards during its run. The revival is expected to address the characters’ lives twenty years after the original series finale.
