Chelsea’s quest for a new manager has been a hot topic of discussion for weeks now, with several names emerging as potential candidates for the role. However, one footballing legend believes that the Blues should look no further than within their own ranks. Graeme Souness, former Liverpool and Scotland captain, has urged Chelsea to snub “in fashion” foreign managers in favour of their own “lucky general” Frank Lampard. In this article, we’ll explore Souness’ stance and delve deeper into whether or not the former midfielder is the right man for the job.
Former Liverpool player and Sky Sports pundit Graeme Souness has shared his views on the appointment of Frank Lampard as Chelsea’s interim manager, tipping him to succeed in his second stint at the club. Despite the fact that Lampard’s previous tenure as Chelsea manager was cut short, Souness believes he is arriving back at the club at a good time, with new purchases starting to gel and suggest they have what it takes to triumph over Premier League rivals. Souness also suggested that Chelsea should resist the temptation to hire a fashionable foreign manager to take over, stating that he would rather see a British manager take charge at a top job. He suggested that foreign managers, such as Julian Nagelsmann, are always in fashion but that as a British pundit, he would be pleased to see a top job go to a British manager. On the other hand, Souness has stated in previous interviews that Harry Kane, who is of course English, is a fine footballer who goes far, so it may be that he has a soft spot for British players and managers. Lampard’s first challenge will be taking Chelsea to play Wolves on Saturday, before heading off to Real Madrid to play in their Champions League quarter-final on Wednesday.
In conclusion, the debate over who should take up the Chelsea managerial role rages on. While some argue that the club should go for a foreign manager with a proven track record, Graeme Souness believes that Frank Lampard is the best fit for the job. He argues that Lampard’s experience with the club makes him the “lucky general” that Chelsea needs. Ultimately, it remains to be seen who will take up the mantle at Stamford Bridge. However, one thing is for sure – the fate of Chelsea next season will be heavily influenced by the manager they choose.

Frank Lampard set to return as interim head coach at Chelsea
The football world is buzzing with rumors and reports that Frank Lampard is set to make a stunning return to Chelsea Football Club, this time as the interim manager. The former Chelsea midfielder and all-time record goal scorer has been heavily linked with the managerial role at the club since the departure of Maurizio Sarri. And now, it seems that an agreement is close between Lampard and the Chelsea hierarchy, with reports suggesting that the announcement could be made imminently. This move would undoubtedly excite the Chelsea faithful who hold Lampard in such high regard, but what would it mean for the club and its future plans? Let’s take a closer look.
Frank Lampard is reportedly set to become the new interim head coach of Chelsea until the end of the 2022/23 campaign. The move comes after the club’s hierarchy parted ways with Graham Potter last week, with the ex-Brighton boss only in charge for seven months after replacing Thomas Tuchel. Reports suggest Julian Nagelsmann and Luis Enrique are the leading contenders to take over at Stamford Bridge on a permanent basis, but Lampard’s return looks to be confirmed after several outlets reported the news. Lampard, a club legend, previously managed Chelsea but was sacked in January 2021. However, he could now return on an interim basis two years later. Former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan thinks Lampard’s return turns Chelsea into an “even bigger laughing stock”, but he’s not alone in his criticism, with many fans of other Premier League clubs questioning the decision. Nonetheless, the move is likely to excite many Chelsea fans who hold Lampard in high regard. An exhaustive search for a permanent successor to Potter continues in the weeks ahead, with the search being led by the club’s sporting directors before a decision is ultimately made by co-owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali.
As Chelsea fans eagerly await the official announcement of Frank Lampard’s return to the club as manager, excitement and anticipation are running high. If the agreement is indeed close, as reports suggest, then we could be in for a truly stunning comeback from the club legend. Lampard’s passion, dedication, and love for Chelsea are second to none, and there’s no doubt that he’ll put his heart and soul into bringing success back to Stamford Bridge. Whether he’s appointed on an interim or permanent basis, the prospect of Lampard leading Chelsea forward is an exciting one, and fans must surely be counting down the days until his arrival. The future looks bright for the Blues, and we can’t wait to see what Lampard has in store for us.
It’s been a tough season in the Premier League for bosses as 12 coaches have been sacked.
Jakarta –
Brendan Rodgers and Graham Potter Recently sacked Leicester City and Chelsea. Thus, there have been 12 managers sacked from their positions in the Premier League this season, a new record that has never happened before.
Rodgers was kicked out after Leicester lost 1-2 to Crystal Palace on Saturday (1/4/2023), making The Foxes sink into the red zone, in 19th place to be exact with 25 points from 28 matches. Staring at the remaining 10 matches, management felt the need to make changes.
Chelsea, who have won just seven times in the Premier League since Potter arrived last September, are now scattered in 11th place with 38 points. The Blues also ran out of patience after Joao Felix et al lost 0-2 to Aston Villa.
Opta noted that this season there has been a change of coaches in the Premier League up to 13 times, 12 of which were sacked due to poor results. Previously, the most were just 10 times, which occurred in the 2013-14, 2017-18 and 2021-22 seasons.
Of those 13 changes, only once was ‘well done’, namely when Potter was recruited by Chelsea from Brighton & Hove Albion for a fee of 21.5 million Pounds. The remaining 12 were dismissed from positions before their contracts expired.
With less than two months left in the Premier League, it is possible that a new name will be kicked out, especially if it fails to meet the targets set by the club.
So far, here is a list of manager changes in the 2022-23 Premier League:
- Scott Parker (sacked by Bournemouth, 30 August 2022)

Weird Terms That Made Everton Cancel Recruitment Bielsa
Everton got close Marcelo Bielsa to be a substitute Frank Lampardbut the Argentinian manager’s unusual request made the Toffees step back and look for alternatives.
Mirror reported, Everton owner Farhad Moshiri had a meeting with Bielsa, but it turned out that the 67-year-old coach only wanted to take charge of the first team after this season ended. He wants to coach the junior team first.
While Bielsa coached the Everton youth team, the first team was handed over to an interim coach. He suggested this because he considered that the current team did not match his playing pattern, so it would take a long time to adapt.

The terms Bielsa asked for seemed to imply he didn’t want to be burdened with the target of escaping relegation this season, while Everton wanted to get out of the red zone as soon as possible. Moshiri finally refused the unique coach’s request.
At this time, Everton turned their eyes to Sean Dyche. The 51-year-old coach is currently out of work after being sacked by Burnley in April 2022. He is considered to be the right person because he is used to fighting in the mid and bottom boards of the Premier League.
The inauguration of Dyche as the new coach of Everton seems to be a matter of time. Even so, he reportedly asked for a guaranteed long-term contract to make him comfortable carrying out this challenging task.
Everton are in 19th place in the Premier League standings with 15 points from 20 matches. Halfway through the season, they have only won three times and have swallowed 11 defeats.
