Star Academy’s Héléna Reveals Friends Feared Fame Would Change Her
Rising star Héléna, fresh off the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival, has spoken candidly about the anxieties her sudden fame sparked among those closest to her. The Belgian singer, propelled into the spotlight by Star Academy, found herself immediately immersed in a whirlwind tour schedule that distanced her from family and friends, prompting concerns she would be irrevocably altered by the experience.
The rapid shift from everyday life to national recognition was jarring, according to Héléna. “This is the very first that I wrote in my whole life after the Star Ac’. […] I was on tour, I no longer saw my friends in Belgium, my family either. And at the same time I was living something phew with the tour,” she shared. This extended absence and the pressures of a demanding career led her friends to believe a fundamental change was unavoidable.
“My friends said to themselves: ‘It is impossible that she lives all that and that she returns normal and that nothing has changed,'” Héléna recounted, explaining the disbelief expressed upon her returns home. “Whenever I came back they said: ‘It’s crazy! How is it that you are still the same?'”
Despite the dramatic upheaval in her career and daily life, Héléna insists she has remained true to herself. “Ok,my career,my life,my whole daily life have changed. Me, as a human being, I have matured, but I have fundamentally not changed,” she stated. “It’s stupid as a sentence but that means everything.I’m too happy that it is indeed the very first and that she said that.” This commitment to maintaining her core identity, even amidst extraordinary circumstances, resonates as a testament to the importance of staying grounded in the face of celebrity.
