NRL Star brandon Smith Accused of Supplying⁢ Cocaine to Former Teammate Victor Radley

Sydney, Australia – ⁣South ⁣Sydney Rabbitohs player Brandon Smith is facing drug supply charges, with allegations surfacing that he‌ provided cocaine to former Sydney Roosters ‍teammate victor Radley during a golf ‍trip last June. Crucially,⁣ authorities are currently not investigating Victor Radley ⁣in connection with the allegations. Reports indicate he⁤ is not considered a person of interest by Queensland Police.

The South ⁣Sydney Rabbitohs released⁢ a statement on Tuesday confirming‌ they will⁢ support Smith in contesting the charge. “Through his solicitor⁣ Paul McGirr, the Club understands that Brandon was not physically ⁣in the jurisdiction of Queensland when this matter ‍was alleged ‌to have occurred, ‌and⁢ thus, we are instructed that the matter will be contested,” the statement ⁣read.

The Sydney Roosters have yet⁣ to issue a comment. Though,earlier this ⁣year,Roosters⁤ chairman Nick Politis⁤ outlined a⁢ strict zero-tolerance policy towards drug use within the club,stating,”If ⁢somebody’s caught doing cocaine… we’re going to get rid of ⁤them.”

Manly sea Eagles coach Anthony Seibold has indicated the club may challenge the “dangerous contact” ruling that saw Jake Simpkin removed from thier match against the Melbourne Storm.

Simpkin was taken from the field in the first half of the Round 20 NRL clash following an incident involving Nelson Asofa-Solomona. The bunker deemed the contact to be Category 1, resulting in Simpkin’s mandatory removal from the game and an 11-day stand-down period.

However, Seibold stated in his post-game press conference that the club’s own medical testing classified Simpkin’s symptoms as Category 2. This distinction could form the basis of a challenge to the ruling.

“It was disappointing, but we lost Jake for the game, so it was category one from the bunker but from our testing it was category two,” Seibold explained. “Jake does have a mark on his face and Nelson is a big man so he copped a fair elbow from Nelson, so he stayed down becuase of that bit he wasn’t concussed. We don’t believe it was category one but we lost him for the night so we were down to three players on the interchange bench.”

The loss of simpkin significantly impacted Manly’s interchange options for the remainder of the match. Seibold confirmed the club’s intention to review the incident further.

“We will lose him for 11 days but we might challenge that as our doctor considers it a category two,so if that is the case tomorrow with the follow-up protocols then we might put a case that it was category two.”

Debuting as a fresh faced 18-year-old for Manly against the Raiders in 2009, Foran has played 309 NRL games for five clubs.

Foran, who has also represented New Zealand on 31 occasions, played 196 games for Manly over two stints.

He won a premiership with the Sea Eagles in 2011, playing five-eighth alongside rookie halfback Daly Cherry-Evans.

After leaving the Sea Eagles at the end of the 2015 season, Foran then had stops at the Eels, Warriors, Bulldogs, Manly again in 2021 and 2022 before finishing his career at the Titans.

“I’ll be hanging the boots up at the end of the season and moving onto the next phase of my life,” Foran said.

“I want to thank all five of the clubs that I’ve played for over my career.

“I want to pay tribute to the teammates I’ve had at those clubs and the supporters and fans of each and every one of those clubs that have supported me across my time wearing their club colours.”

Foran admitted that he’s entered the past five years wondering if that season would be his last, but is now comfortable to finish up.

“It was important that after a 17 year career and playing for five different clubs, I want to enjoy the final part of my career,” he said.

“I feel that it’s important to make it official so I can really enjoy the final part of the season.

“In a way I came into the season feeling like it could potentially be my last but in saying that, it’s been my last year for the past five years.

“I’ve sort of gone into the past five years believing it could be the end and there’s been that little part in me that chased more succes.

“I wanted to drain every ounce possible out of myself physically and mentally.”

Titans coach Des Hasler, who has coached Foran at the Sea Eagles and Titans, called Foran “one of the NRL’s ultimate competitor”.

“His career has been quite a journey which he has had to navigate highs and lows, but what he has achieved over the past 17 seasons truly epitomises his character and perseverance,” Hasler said via a club issued statement.

“Since he debuted, his fighting spirit has become legendary and, in his words, he has always been all-in.

“This won’t change for the remainder of his final season.

“His story and journey won’t be lost to the game when he hangs up the boots and his future in mentoring young men and women will ensure his legacy continues.”
