Perot Museum of Nature and Science Draws Visitors with Interactive Exhibits

The Perot Museum of Nature and Science in Dallas, Texas, offers five levels of hands-on discovery, encompassing subjects ranging from dinosaurs to DNA and diamonds. The museum, noted for its striking architecture designed by Thom Mayne, is a prominent feature of downtown Dallas and aims to inspire curiosity and learning.

Opened in 2012, the museum features 11 permanent exhibit halls. Visitors can engage with exhibits that allow them to race a Tyrannosaurus rex, experience a simulated tornado, or participate in battles within a remote-controlled robotics arena. The museum’s design incorporates environmentally conscious features, adding to its appeal.

A newly transformed Moody Family Children’s Museum provides dedicated space for younger visitors. The Rose Hall of Birds displays gargantuan dinosaur fossil skeletons, offering a glimpse into prehistoric life. The Lamar Hunt Family Sports Hall allows visitors to test their speed against professional athletes in interactive races.

The museum also offers a state-of-the-art 3D cinema and hosts public programs. A virtual tour of the museum is available through a mobile app, enhancing the visitor experience with interactive guides. The museum is open from 10 a.m. To 5 p.m. Monday, Wednesday through Saturday, and from 11 a.m. To 5 p.m. On Sundays. It is closed on Tuesdays.

Ticket prices are $48 for adults (ages 13 and up) and $32 for children (ages 3-12). The museum is included as one of four attractions available through the Dallas CityPASS, offering a 40% discount on admission to multiple destinations, including the GeO-Deck and either the Sixth Floor Museum or the Dallas Zoo.

Educational programs are available for all grade levels, both at the museum and through outreach initiatives. The Whynauts®, an interactive educational series, offers all 11 episodes for free, bringing the museum’s wonders to classrooms and homes. The series is funded by the Perot Foundation and The Lamar Hunt Family.

A new interactive bird flight experience, Tournament of Flight, challenges visitors to achieve high scores while navigating a simulated Texas canyon valley. Soccer: More Than a Game opens March 7, with tickets currently on sale.
