Washington Huskies Target Elite โEdge Rushers in 2027 โClass
SEATTLE – The Universityโค ofโค Washington football โprogram is โprioritizing edge rusherโ talent in the 2027 recruiting class, with coachesโ actively โคpursuing โseveral highly-ranked prospects. Early returns suggest the Huskies are โin contention for multipleโข players who could considerably โimpact the team’s defensive front.
Krew Jones, โa โคstandout from Millville, โUtah, currently ranksโ 156th nationally and 18th atโฃ his position. Jones has โgarnered national attention since โhis freshman seasonโข due to his rareโฃ combination of size, speed, and power.โค While currently believed to be leaning towards Oklahoma, Washington was able to hostโ him for a gameโค this season and remains a strong contenderโ if they can secureโค another visit.
Troy Bowens of Sutter,โค California, is rated 173rd nationally and 22ndโฃ atโ his โpositionโ (247Sports rates โhim as a defensiveโ lineman). Bowens projects โขasโค a versatile SDE/DL hybrid capable of both โฃdisciplined run defense and disruptive pass rushing. He has publicly โฃstated that UW is his favorite, though Oregon, โkansas, and Tennessee also pose threats.
The Huskies are also pursuing Troy mailo from Denver, โcolorado, who is ranked 40th at his position. Mailo isโ describedโ as a pass-rushing speed merchantโค whoโ consistentlyโ plays atโข a high tempo,โค utilizingโค his โlower body strengthโข to powerโ through blockers. Arizona, Arizona State, andโ Kansas State are also โshowing interest.
Local prospect Ty Tautolo, hailing from Lake Stevens, Washington, is ranked 50th at his position and has drawn comparisons to former Husky Hau’oliโค Kikaha due to his extraordinary speed โฃand disruptive playmaking ability. Tautolo has โalready attendedโค multiple Husky games, and Washington isโ positioned wellโ early in his recruitment. However, they will face โcompetition โฃfrom Notre Dame, Oregon, and Texas A&M โto keep himโ in-state.
