This plan worked in the eleventh minute. After a shift from the right side to Vincenzo Grifo, he crossed into the penalty area for Roland Sallai. Manuel Neuer was able to parry his header, but could not hold on to it. Sallai used the rebound for an overhead kick, but only hit the crossbar. After the break, Bayern pushed for the lead more consistently. But the SC also had chances. Harry Kane had the chance for Munich immediately after the restart (46th) – then Maximilian Eggestein (48th) for Freiburg a few minutes later.
In the 75th minute it was another individual action that led to the goal: Jamal Musiala dribbled through the Freiburg penalty area with small, quick steps, leaving several defenders standing, was able to finish and score.
