Prices for several essential food commodities in Jakarta experienced a mixed trend on Thursday, with some items increasing whereas others decreased, according to data from the Ministry of Trade’s Basic Needs Market Monitoring System (SP2KP Kemendag) as of 6:01 PM local time.

The monitoring system indicated price increases for shallots, curly red chili and large red chili. Curly red chili saw the largest percentage increase, rising 3.8% to Rp55,708 per kilogram. Large red chili prices increased by 3.17% to Rp54,306 per kg, while shallots edged up 0.41% to Rp51,042 per kg.

Conversely, prices for red bird’s eye chili, broiler eggs, premium packaged palm cooking oil, and beef rump declined. Premium packaged palm cooking oil experienced the most significant drop, falling 1.5% to Rp21,896 per liter. Beef rump prices decreased by 0.44% to Rp142,639 per kg. Red bird’s eye chili and broiler eggs saw more modest decreases, falling 0.2% and 0.39% respectively.

Karno also expressed optimism that economic activity will further increase during Ramadan and Idul Fitri, potentially exceeding Rp 20 trillion. The government has released a joint decree outlining national holidays and collective leave for 2026, including dates for Idul Fitri and Idul Adha.
