US โConsiders Leaflet Campaign in Venezuela to Increase Pressure โขon Maduro
CARACAS – โThe United Statesโ government is โคreportedly considering a “psychological operation” involving the distribution of leaflets โฃover Caracas,Venezuela,to escalateโ pressure on President Nicolรกs โMaduroโค to โleave power. โขAccording to sources cited by The Washington Post, the leaflets would advertise the $50โ million reward offered for information leading to Maduro’s arrestโข andโ conviction.
Theโ potential operation comes as diplomatic โefforts continue, including a planned โmeeting between Ukrainian peace plan delegates and U.S.โค Senator Marco Rubio. Itโ alsoโข coincides with maduro’s 63rd birthday, November 23rd, andโ follows โreports in The new York โขTimes of prior negotiations-rejected โby theโค U.S.-regarding โคa potential departure from power within two years.โ
The โmove is โpart of a โฃbroader strategy thatโฃ includes a reinforced U.S.โค military presence in the Caribbean and Latin America, framed โขby the Donald trump Administrationโข as its ‘Lanceโ of โคthe South’ operation and a counter-narcotics effort. Maduro hasโข characterized this deployment as an attempt โคto โremove himโ from power, prompting increased military โpreparedness exercises โขwithin Venezuela.
On November 22nd, the United States Federalโข Aviation Administration (FAA)โฃ issued โขan international notice urging โข”extremeโค caution” when โflying over Venezuela and the southern Caribbean Sea. Several airlines,โข including Iberia, TAP, Gol, and Avianca, subsequently โsuspended flightsโ to the country. However, Venezuelan airline Avior announced it wouldโข maintain its national and โคinternational โฃflights, while Colombian airline Wingo statedโ it wouldโ continue normal โoperations.
