Conference League 2024/25 draw: Boleslav vs Betis or Molde

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com August 31, 2024
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

Mladá Boleslav footballers will welcome Betis Sevilla, Lugano and the Polish champions from Bialystok with former Sparta player Michal Sáček in the main stage of the Conference League. Molde, Guimaraes from Portugal and Noah from Armenia await them outside. Today’s draw in Monaco decided it. The opening round is scheduled for October 3, and the final for December 19.

In the main phase of the Conference League, unlike the Champions League and Europa League, only six matches will be played, therefore Mladá Boleslav will not start until the beginning of October, in Armenia against Noah. In the most attractive match, Betis will welcome Sevilla in the 4th round on November 28. The basic part of the Conference League is the only one that does not extend until January, the last round is scheduled for December 19. Boleslav will play on the European stage the longest of the Czech teams this year, almost until Christmas.

The Conference League, like other European competitions, will be played in a new format from this season. All teams were assigned a draw in the league phase of one opponent from each of the six performance baskets. All teams will play three matches at home and three away. The results will be included in the overall table, the best eight will advance directly to the round of 16, the other 16 teams will play in the 1st round of the playoffs. The final will take place on May 28 in Wrocław.

Mladá Boleslav and Pilsen celebrate promotion

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com August 29, 2024
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

Mladá Boleslav footballers scored a valuable victory in the rematch of the qualification for the Conference League against the Hungarian team Paksi FC. The Central Bohemians won on the opponent’s ground with a clear result of 0:3. All three goals were scored in the second half, thanks to Jawa, Králik and Pulkraba.

The first half of the match was characterized by balanced play. The players of the FK Mladá Boleslav team tried their best, but the Paksi defense stood firm and did not let Boleslav into bigger opportunities. On the other hand, the Hungarian team also created several interesting situations, but Boleslav’s defense solved them.

But the decisive moments came after the break. Mladá Boleslav significantly increased the tempo of the game and began to dominate. The first goal came from the kick of striker Lamin Jawa, who sent the ball behind goalkeeper Simon in the 57th minute.

It didn’t take long for Boleslav to rejoice for the second time. In the 68th minute, defender Martin Králik found his way best and made it 2:0 with a precise header. Matěj Pulkrab adjusted the final 3:0 score at the end of the match.

Pilsen is also happy

Viktoria Plzeň also did well at the Hearts stadium in Edinburgh, Scotland. A draw would have been enough for them to advance to the league part of the Europa League. However, Pilsen did not have to worry about the result. Lukáš Červ scored in the 76th minute and the West Bohemians kept the 0:1 win.

Sport.cz experts praise Pilsen’s performance. “The home team didn’t play a bad match, but Viktoria played very skillfully, in the end they didn’t let the opponent into a clear opportunity, Marián Tvrdoň caught the match brilliantly,” he evaluates Sport.cz.

ONLINE: Paksi – Boleslav. The guests are going to fight for KL with a new coach

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com August 29, 2024
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

In the rematch of the 4th preliminary round of the Conference League, the Mladá Boleslav footballers won 3:0 in Paks and with a 2:2 draw at home, they advanced to the main stage of the European Cup for the third time in history and after 17 years. In the premiere of new coach Andreas Brännström, the Central Bohemians decided after changing sides. In the 48th minute, Lamin Jawo opened the scoring and in the 55th minute, Martin Králik increased the score. Matěj Pulkrab added a fuse in the settings.

The football players from Mladoboleslav continued their progress over Lithuanian Transinvest and Hapoel Beer Ševa and went through the preliminary rounds to the main stage of the European Cup after seven consecutive failures. They have only played the group so far in the 2006/07 and 2007/08 seasons in the UEFA Cup. They will receive a bonus of 3.17 million euros (about 80 million crowns) for advancing to the Conference League. The names of the six opponents for the newly introduced league phase of the Conference League will be announced during the draw on Friday.

Czech football will have four representatives in Europe in the fall. Sparta Prague awaits the Champions League, Slavia the European League. Plzeň is also striving for promotion to the EL, and in the 4th preliminary round, after a 1:0 home win, they started a rematch on the Hearts pitch from 20:45. In case of failure, it will play in the Conference League.

Swedish coach Brännström, who only replaced David Holoubek on the bench on Saturday, chose the same setup as his opponent with three stoppers. Experienced defender Suchý returned to the lineup, who also took over the role of captain. Paks was led by the recovered left back János Szabó with a tape into the game.

The home team threatened for the first time in the third minute, when goalkeeper Trmal had to go to the ground after Vécsei’s shot from behind the goal. Paks was better in the first half, but paradoxically Jawo from Mladá Boleslav had the best chance. In the 18th minute, the Gambian striker pounced on Vydra’s cross and goalkeeper Simon pulled his header under the crossbar for a corner.

Paks was getting to the finish line and wasn’t afraid to shoot from mid-range. Trmal made six saves in the opening act, the heaviest after Haraszti’s shot from an angle in the 20th minute and Tóth’s attempt from the turn after half an hour of play. The players of both teams went to the cabins just like a week ago with a score of 0:0.

After a lackluster first half, the Czech team entered the second half in the best possible way. Jawo broke free past two defenders behind the penalty area and sent the ball elusively into the top right corner. The 29-year-old striker, who was plagued by health problems at the beginning of the season, celebrated his first start in the starting line-up in the new season with a goal.

Osváth could answer in a flash, but he did not hit the goal in front of Trmal himself from an ideal position. In the 55th minute, Ladra found Králik exactly from a standard situation and headed it to 2:0. The Slovakian stopper scored the third goal in the last four competitive matches, he also scored in the rematch at Hapoel Beer Sheva.

The “glued” conceding goals shook the home team and they could not get back into the pace. On the contrary, in the 65th minute Ladra could have decided, his cross shot after the break was saved by Simon with a great save.

Mladá Boleslav finished the final half hour with an overview. Paks scored the first shot on goal after the change of sides only in the 84th minute, but the scorer from the opening match, Böde, did not beat Trmal with his head.

In the second minute of regulation, substitute Pulkrab confirmed the triumph with an outside instep, and Central Bohemia also won in the third away match in the preliminary round. They went undefeated in three double matches. Paks lost in the cups after six matches and did not reach the premier stage.

Boleslav is playing to fulfill a dream. Hungarian Paks host the battle for the Conference League – Sport.cz

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com August 22, 2024
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

Středočechy is waiting for an opponent who has a completely different style of play than the last time at Beer Sheva Israel. Instead of variety and technical ability, the Hungarians admit a simple strategy. Lots of kicks, crosses, tackles.

“They have big boys up front and they are kicking balls at them. They can hit them and put them down for backup. They go head to head in everything. They know about themselves, they give it to each other blindly. They are very unpleasant, well-prepared physically and energetic,” Czech offensive player Jaroslav Navrátil, who plays in the Hungarian league in Nyíregyház, points out Paks for Sport.cz.

Boleslav last appeared in the basic group of the European Cup in the autumn of 2007, when he was in the UEFA Cup. “We want to make it to the top group, which would be a great achievement. I always wanted to play games like this. I believe we can do it together,” said defender Dominik Kostka.

In addition to injured midfielder David Kozlo, Boleslav is ready, striker Lamin Jawo should also be available after health problems.

The match will be refereed by Georgia’s Goga Kikacheishvili, and will be broadcast live by O2 TV Sport. Progression to the basic group of the Conference League is rewarded with an entry financial bonus of 3.05 million euros (76.5 million crowns).

CUTTING 5th round: Baník lost in Slovácko, Liberec celebrates. The favorites succeeded

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com August 18, 2024
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

The fifth round of the Chance League did not change anything significant at the top of the table. Sparta continues to be 100% when it won the battle in Jablonec (2:1). Slavia struggled to get a three-point win at home against Teplice, securing a 2:1 win only at the end. Plzeň also remains on 13 points, having won 3:0 at the last České Budějovice. Other cup representatives did not succeed, Mladá Boleslav fell 2:3 in Olomouc and Baník failed in Slovácko (0:1). In other matches, Hradec Králové beat Dukla 1:0 at home, Bohemians won 2:1 in Karviná and Liberec beat Pardubice 3:0. CUTTINGS from all matches can be found in the iSport.cz article.

Hradec Králové – Dukla 1:0

In the 5th round of the first league, Hradec Králové football players beat Dukla Prague 1:0 on their pitch and won their third home game in the season of the top competition. Ondřej Mihálik scored the only goal at the end of the first half, his teammate Adam Vlkanova did not convert a penalty in the 19th minute. The “intruders” have moved to fourth place in the incomplete table with nine points, the newcomer to the competition has lost the fourth of the opening five rounds and is second to last with three points.

SESTŘIH: Hradec Králové – Dukla 1:0. Petrášk’s successful premiere, Řezníček took turns

Karviná – Bohemians 1:2

Bohemians in Karviná got off to a great start. Not even twenty seconds had passed and they were already leading after the escape of Jan Matoušek. A quick start to the match was confirmed on the other side by Vechet, who equalized from the center from the right side. Moments before the break, Júsuf went through the home defense and secured three points for the kangaroos with a confident finish.

CUT: Karviná – Bohemians 1:2. A lightning start by the Kangaroos, then Júsuf decided

Slavia – Teplice 2:1

At the end of the 5th round match with Teplice, Slavia Prague turned the score around and beat them 2:1. At the same time, they were losing from the 57th minute, Abdallah Gning became Antonín Kinski’s first defeater of the season. However, in the last ten minutes, “stitching” turned the match around. Oscar Dorley scored first, shortly after Christos Zafeiris scored the winning goal from the penalty spot.

CUT: Slavia – Teplice 2:1. First the shock, then the final twist

Jablonec – Sparta 1:2

Five games, five wins. The defending champions from Sparta are 100 percent even after the fifth round of the Chance League. They also won in Jablonec with a frequent result of 2:1, when their goals were scored by Lukáš Haraslín and Indrit Tuci. Jakub Martinec scored for the home team in the end, and Luboš Kozel fouled VAR, which disallowed Puskáč’s goal. Letenská can also be haunted by the condition of Veljko Birmančevič, who had to stay on the field at the end of the match, even though he was clearly suffering from an injury.

CUT: Jablonec – Sparta 1:2. Fifth win in a row and fear for Birmančevič

Olomouc – Mladá Boleslav 3:2

Mladá Boleslav hesitated in the league after progressing to the playoffs of the Conference League on Thursday. On the Olomouc pitch, she was able to equalize twice, but she could not find an answer to Jan Kliment’s corner kick in the set time. Sigma has 10 points, and Boleslav lost in the third away match of the season.

SETTING: Olomouc – Mladá Boleslav 3:2. Kliment dominated the shootout

Ceske Budejovice – Pilsen 0:3

Pilsen continues to keep up with the Prague favorites. On Sunday, Viktoria calmly managed the duel on the České Budějovice pitch. Erik Jirka opened the scoring from a penalty, Cada and Lukáš Kalvach added more goals in the second half. Dynamo remains without a point gain with a strongly negative score of 1:16.

FIGHT: České Budějovice – Plzeň 0:3. Vital Dynamo still at zero

Liberec – Pardubice 3:0

Liberec started the season with a victory in Karviná, but after that they managed only one point from three matches. Another meaningful win came only in the 5th round, when Slovan clearly defeated Pardubice at home. Midfielder Michal Hlavatý scored two goals. After five games, the East Bohemians have three points for their win in České Budějovice.

CUT: Liberec – Pardubice 3:0. Great for Hlaváté and red for Ghali

Slovácko – Baník 1:0

After Thursday’s bitter elimination from the 3rd preliminary round of the Conference League, Baník did not even succeed in the league. Slovácko secured the win with a goal at the end of the first half, when Matěj Chaluš hit his own net. The team from Uherské Hradiště won the second duel in a row, improved to eight points and kept a clean sheet for the fourth time out of five games. At the end of the match, David Buchta still saw a red card.

SETTING: Slovácko – Baník 1:0. The debut of Krmenčík, decided by Chaluš’s patriot
