Dr. Byong-jinโ YOU awarded Order of Civil Merit
Former Myongji universityโ President Byong-Jin YOU has been awarded the Order of โฃCivil Merit, Cheong Stripes, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to higher education, internationalization, and sports growth. The prestigious โฃhonor, the highest available to a private school faculty member, โacknowledges Dr. YOU’s dedication to national and social progress across education, research, university innovation, and sports โคdiplomacy.
Throughout a โขcareer spanning over 40 years, Dr. YOU โคhas excelled in both academia โขand โขsports โadministration. Heโ began his career as aโ professorโ of business administrationโ at kwandong Universityโ in 1978,later serving as its president before taking the helm at Myongji university.
Dr.YOU’s commitment to โsports โฃis equally remarkable. He has held key positions including executive Committee Memberโข of the International University Sports Federation (FISU), roles on โthe Organising Committees for โขtheโค 2003 Daegu Summer Universiade and the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics,โฃ Head of the Korean Delegation forโ the 2015 Gwangju Summer Universiade, and Vice Chairman of the Organising โCommittee for theโค upcoming 2024 Gangwon Winter โYouthโข Olympic Games. โHe also served as Chairman โof the Korea University Sports Committee (KUSB) andโ Vice-Chairmanโ ofโข the Korea University Sports Council (KUSF).
