According to an official statement from the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, this aid is aimed at people who are in vulnerable situations, such as older adults.

It may be applied to the financial benefit within a period of 20 business days from the publication of the extracts in the Official State Gazette.

In this sense, the date on which the period for receiving applications will close was established for April 24, 2024.

The aid of 3.6 million euros is divided into a first fund of 2.2 million destined for day centers, nursing homes and other institutions that serve Spaniards abroad. The objective of this is “to improve the living conditions of this group by supporting informative, social or assistance activities.”

The second part of the aid, which has a value of 1.4 million euros, is intended for federations, associations and centers of Spaniards abroad that have more than fifty members.

The objective of this is to contribute to the financing of the operating and maintenance expenses of these entities abroad, promoting social, health and sociocultural assistance to Spaniards outside the Iberian country.

To be eligible for this aid, entities must be legally constituted, non-profit and, in the case of associations, have a minimum of fifty associated people.

According to Pilar Cancela Rodríguez, Secretary of State for Migration, the country made clear its commitment to Spanish citizens abroad, emphasizing that this aid represents crucial support in times of need for its citizens.

“All the procedures and forms are FREE, so no amount should be paid to any person who requires it. If this happens, you can file a written complaint about the case so that this Consulate General can take the appropriate measures,” the official statement clarifies.

New Social Security Administration Amendment to Benefit 7.4 Million SSI Recipients – September 2024 Update

New Social Security Administration Amendment to Benefit 7.4 Million SSI Recipients – September 2024 Update

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com April 4, 2024
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

An amendment that would take effect in September 2024 would change the eligibility rules of the Social Security Administration (SSA).

This fundamentally has to do with food assistance and applies to those who receive or are part of the Supplemental Security Income Program (SSI).

Now, it is known to everyone that SSI provides adults and children with disabilities or blindness with monthly checks.

So, the new rule is aimed at benefiting around 7.4 million people who receive SSI in the United States.

The difference then lies in the fact that as of its implementation, food will no longer count as income to calculate people’s eligibility. Therefore, this measure could affect payments, since it could reduce the amount of benefits that participants should obtain.

What does this new rule mean?

In this sense, Darcy Milburn, director of Social Security and health care policies at The Arc, expressed several fundamental questions. The first of them is that SSI eligibility is for people who have incomes of less than $1971.00 USD per month.

The official claimed that, with this rule, beneficiaries will not have to worry that food received from family or friends will reduce their monthly benefits.

This “represents a significant step in addressing a complex, burdensome and inhumane policy that affects people with disabilities who receive SSI,” Milburn said.

Meanwhile, this would be the first of the changes that the Social Security Administration (SSA) ventures to make. Likewise, Social Security Commissioner Martin O’Malley stated that simplifying the entity’s policies represents, right now, a common sense solution.

All of this would reduce the burden on the public and agency staff. Additionally, by removing barriers to access payments you would be helping to promote equity.

Social Security payment dates in March 2024

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com March 3, 2024
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

The monthly checks issued by the Social Security Administration in the United States help millions of retirees, low-income seniors and the disabled.

In this sense, the Social Security Administration (SSA) establishes a payment schedule with the exact dates where each beneficiary receives their checks.

So, depending on the conditions of the recipient, the amounts are determined. While in the case of retirees, it is done according to the retirement age.

Let us remember that the planning is usually the same every month, except if the days coincide with weekends or holidays. Therefore, the payment schedule for the month of March will be made as follows:

On Friday, March 1, it will be paid to Supplemental Security Income recipients and retirees before May 1997.

On Wednesday, March 13, the payment will be made to retirees after May 1997, born between the 1st and 10th of any month.

Retirees after May 1997 born between the 11th and 20th of any month will receive their money on March 20. While, those retired after May 1997 born between the 21st and 31st of any month will do so on the 27th.

Aid amount

An increase of 3.2% experienced the 2024 Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA). Therefore, the amounts for retirees and beneficiaries of the various SSA social programs will also increase.

That is, $943.00 USD will be received by individual beneficiaries of Supplemental Security Income, who are the first to receive their checks.

While, $1415.00 USD is the amount for married couples and $472.00 USD for essential people. Additionally, retirees have an average of $1907.00 USD every month.

Although, it should be clarified that retirees at age 62 receive $2710.00 USD. This is because the entity assigns payments depending on the retirement age.

Likewise, those retired at the average retirement age (67 years) receive $3,822.00 USD and those retired at age 70 receive $4,873.00 USD.

There will be no Summer EBT next summer in these US states

There will be no Summer EBT next summer in these US states

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com March 1, 2024
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

In the United States, the Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced a scheme to send extra food aid for minors during the summer. This is the Summer EBT, to which the majority of the North American states would be added.

In this sense, more than 30 million children throughout the country could benefit from the program. Its goal is to provide grocery shopping to low-income families with school-aged children. All this during the period when schools are closed, that is, in the summer.

However, there were 15 states in the country that decided not to join this program. One of them was Alabama, where the federal government has cut funding to administer the program by 50%.

In Alaska, it was proposed that the cost and administrative requirement to create a new EBT issuance program would exceed the benefit to be granted.

For its part, Florida stated that its approach to serving children does not require any additional federal programs. Meanwhile, in Georgia it is argued that this program lacks basic nutritional requirements and sustainability.

Likewise, Idaho would not join the program until 2025. However, there is still no clear decision on the matter.

Likewise, Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds expressed that the best idea is to invest in existing programs and infrastructure at the state level.

Meanwhile, Louisiana missed the January 1 deadline to join Summer EBT 2024. Additionally, Mississippi refused to participate under Governor Reeves’ direction.

Finally, completing the list of states that will not join the program is Nebraska; Oklahoma; South Carolina; South Dakota; Texas; Vermont and Wyoming.

Those who accept How will they receive the benefits?

This will be possible through preloaded cards, which can be used by families to purchase food at the various participating stores.

So qualified American families will receive $40.00 USD for each eligible child in the summer months of 2024.

It should be clarified that these benefits work in conjunction with other nutritional assistance programs available. We’re talking about summer meal sites, like SNAP and WIC, that help kids with critical nutrition when school is out.

Direct payment stimulus check of about $1,312 dollars in the United States

written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

The governments of several US states for more than forty years have benefited their residents through the Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD) program.

The money comes from the capital generated by the exploitation of minerals and oil in the state of Alaska. The initiative is one of the main incentives for residents there, who can apply every year.

This year applications for the 2024 Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD) will be open until March 31. The calculation of the amount is based on the number of eligible applicants and half of the legal net income averaged over the last five years.

Payment Schedule and Eligibility Requirements

Payments of the 2023 Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD) are now underway. All eligible Alaskans will receive $1,312 this year.

The first payment of 2023 was made on January 18 for applications in “Eligible-Not Paid” status on January 10. According to the PFD schedule, there are two more rounds of payments left.

People who are in “Eligible-Not Paid” status on February 7, 2024, will receive their money this February 15. The “Eligible-Not Paid” status means that although the application meets the requirements to receive payment, it has not yet been made.

The other scheduled date is March 21, for those applications that maintain the “Eligible-Not Paid” status until March 13.

Alaska Governor Mike Dunleavy announced that he will offer a payment of $3,000 USD per person.

The news was published in the Anchorage Daily News, but the final figure will be determined at the end of June 2024. People interested in receiving the benefit have until the last day of March to submit their application.

The requirements to be eligible are:

  • Be legal residents of Alaska.
  • Remain physically present in the state for most of the year.
  • Not have a conviction for a serious crime.
