COTTBUS,Germany – Ivona Juka’s Beautiful Evening,Beautiful Day,a co-production between Croatia,Canada,Poland,cyprus,and Bosnia and Herzegovina,claimed the Audience award as FilmFestival Cottbus 2023 concluded its run. The 35th edition of the festival, spotlightingโ cinema from โฃcentral and Eastern Europe, unveiled its winners today, recognizing a diverseโค slate of films and filmmakers.
FilmFestival Cottbusโ serves as a crucial platform for emerging and established voices in the region, offering a gateway to international distribution and recognition. Katarรญna Gramatovรก’s film from โthe Czech Republic received theโ FIPRESCI Award, recognizing critical acclaim. Krzysztof Skonieczny’s Wrooklyn Zoo (poland) earned the FIPRESCI โAward, supported by productionโฃ companies gลฤboki OFF, ZQ Entertainment, and R.U. โขRobot Studios, with additional backing from Canal+โ Polska,โค Juice, and Dolnoลlฤ skie โCentrumโ Filmowe,โข and funding from theโฃ Polish Film institute and Lower โฃSilesian Film Fund.
Emรญlia Goldberg’s Mayflies / Pipas (Hungary) was honored withโค theโข Award โof the Ecumenical โJury, while ester Ivakiฤ’s Ida Who Sang So Badly Even the Dead Rose Up and Joined Herโค in Song โ/ โIda, ki je pela tako grdo, da so ลกe mrtvi vstali od mrtvih in zapeli z njo (Slovenia, Croatia) received an Honorable โคMention from the same โฃjury. Olga Kosanoviฤ’s โข Land der Berge (Austria, germany) secured the MIOB in Shorts Award. Branko Tomoviฤโ was recognized with the PICKASTORY – Audience โLogline Award, and roman Pernack received the Promotional โขAward of the Foundation for the Sorbian People.
