SANTIAGO – Chile’s national women’s field hockey team, Las Diablas, will compete in the FIH Hockey World Cup 2026 Qualifiers, to be held from March 1 to 8 at the Claudia Schüler Field Hockey Center in Santiago, Chile Hockey confirmed Saturday.
The tournament will determine three direct qualifying spots for the 2026 FIH Hockey World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by the Netherlands and Belgium from August 15 to 30. A fourth qualifying spot will be determined by a playoff between the fourth-place finishers in the Santiago qualifiers and the Indian Qualifiers, with the winner decided by FIH world ranking.
Las Diablas, currently ranked 15th in the world, will face a challenging Group A alongside Australia (7th), France (17th), and Switzerland (38th). Group B will consist of Japan (12th), Ireland (13th), Malaysia (21st), and Canada (22nd). The top two teams from each group will advance to the semifinals.
Christopher Rodriguez is the team’s technical director. The roster includes 20 players, though the names have not yet been publicly released by Chile Hockey.
Teams that do not reach the semifinals will compete for third place, with the winner securing the final direct qualification spot for the World Cup.
