FIFA Confirms Falsified Documents in Naturalization Cases,โ FAM to Appeal to CAS
Kuala Lumpur – FIFA hasโ substantiated claims that โdocuments related to the naturalization of seven Malaysian football players were falsified, the FIFAโค Disciplinary Committee detailed โin a statement releasedโฃ Tuesday, Novemberโฃ 18th. Despite the findings, the football Association of Malaysia (FAM) maintains its innocence and will โขpursue the case with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
The decisionโ stems from an appeal following FIFA’s initial rejection on November 3rd, which โquestioned the eligibility of the players. FIFA’s detailed explanation now confirms the association’s belief that the documentation submitted forโ the players’ naturalization process โwas not legitimate. This progress casts a shadow over Malaysia’s recent international performances and raises questions aboutโ the integrity of its player eligibility procedures. Theโฃ outcome of theโข CAS โขappeal will determine whether Malaysia faces sanctions or if the players โคwill be permitted to continue representing the nationalโ team.
FAM officials, however, remain steadfast in their position. “FAM โขwill initiate the process to take this case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS),” announced Datuk Wira Mohd Yusoff Haji Mahadi. “This step is being taken to โขensure that justice โคcan be served and to maintain the integrity ofโ the player eligibility process that has beenโ established by the Malaysian Government and โคrelated bodies.”
Datuk Wira Mohd Yusoffโค Haji Mahadi further emphasizedโข FAM’s commitment to defending the rights of players โฃwho meet eligibility requirements, stating, “FAM remains โคcommitted to fighting for the rights of all players who meet the requirements to represent โฃthe country, โฃand โคwill ensure that every action isโ taken professionally, โtransparently, and in accordance with the appropriate โlegal channels.”
