Lodi Launches “Don’t Ask Me to โRemember” Initiative to Supportโข Alzheimer’s & Dementiaโค Patients and Caregivers
the Municipality โof Lodi, in partnership with โthe Health Promotion and Protection Organisation and ASST Lodi, โhas unveiled a โขnew project aimed โขat destigmatizing and supporting individuals living with Alzheimer’s and dementia, as well as their families and caregivers. โCalled “Don’t Ask Me toโ Remember,” the initiativeโ was presented at palazzo Broletto and seeks toโ bring vital resources directly to local neighborhoods.
The project’s core mission is twofold: to increaseโ public understanding of cognitive decline throughโค data and training, and to activelyโ include those affected by dementiaโ in community life while providing crucial โsupport to those who careโข forโ them. Welfareโ Councilor Simonetta Pozzoliโข and Councilor for Local Health and Medicine, โคSilvana Cesani, emphasized the importance of breaking down the social โฃstigmaโค often associated with these conditions.
“Don’t Ask Me to Remember” โis a collaborative effort, bringing together expertise from Fondazione Santa Chiara (with doctors Donatella Bellocchio and Maria Grazia Santus), local associations Fiab Lodi Ciclodi (Giuseppe Mancini) and nautilus Laboratoryโ (Maria Notarianni), and ASST lodi (represented by General Director Guido โGrignaffini โฃand Dr. Sara Forlani). City Councilor Simona Bernasconi played a key role in the project’s conception and planning, with Lavinia Schiavi serving โas community facilitator.
Aโ series of public meetings will kick off the initiative at the oratory of San Bernardo, โขall held from 6:00โ PM to 7:00 PM. The scheduleโ includes:
*โฃ November 20th: โDr. Carlo Rovelli – “Signs โand Behaviors to Pay Attention To in the Initial and Full-Blownโ Phases”
* November 27th: Dr. Fraia Falvo – “The Diagnosis, Treatment, and Assistance Network in the Province of Lodi”
* โค December 11th: Dr. โคAnna Rebagliati – “How to Manage Everyday Lifeโค and Unexpected Events”
*โข January 15th, 2026: Dr.Paolo Astrone – “The Role of the Caregiver: Helping and Supporting those Who Help. Measures to Support Assistance and Care”
* January 22nd, 2026: Dr. Sara Del Duca – โฃ”Strategies of Daily Interactionโ and Coexistence Inside and Outside the Home”
The project’s title, inspired by โa common phrase expressed by those โexperiencing early symptomsโฃ of cognitive decline, underscores its commitmentโ to empathyโ and understanding. “Don’t Ask Me to Remember” aims to create a โขmore inclusive and supportive environment for โindividualsโฃ and families โnavigating theโ challenges of Alzheimer’s and dementia within the Lodiโ community.
