Van Persie Faces Mounting Injury Crisis at Feyenoord: “I Have Had Nicer days”
Rotterdam, Netherlands – October 31, 2025 – Feyenoord โhead coach Robin van Persie โis โคgrappling with a notable injury list ahead of crucial upcoming matches against FC Volendam and Stuttgart, revealing a wave of setbacks duringโค a โฃpress conference today. The club is facing aโ goalkeeper shortage and several key absences across the pitch.
Van Persie confirmed that both Justin โคBijlow and Liam Bossin sustainedโ injuries during Thursday’s training session, leaving Timon Wellenreuther as the only fully โfit senior goalkeeper available for Saturday’s โคclash with Volendam.
“It means that the firstโฃ goalie, Timon Wellenreuther, is the only fit A-keeper that Van persie has at his disposal on Saturday,” โa club statement read. “However, the absenceโ of two-thirds of his goalkeeper guildโฃ is not the only headache for the head coach.”
Beyond the goalkeeping crisis, midfielder Oussama Targhalline is sidelined after suffering aโ blow to the head during the โrecent match against PSV, requiring protective headgear in the second half. “He made a big hit after only fiveโข minutes in the match,” Van Persie explained. “So he is not fit โfor tomorrow and maybe not even longer.”
Adding to the woes, left-back Jordan Bos is expected โto be out โคfor “a number of weeks” with โคa muscle injury. Further compounding the issue, Justin Bijlow and Liam Bossin will undergo scans on their lower โคlegs โคto determine the extent of their injuries.
“He will โฃbe examined today and a scan โwill be made of his lower leg. The same applies to Liam, who also had a moment during training,” Van Persie stated. “They โขwillโฃ not be available tomorrow. We hope that it will not be too bad, but the firstโฃ impression is that it could take longer.”
Jakub Moder and sem Steijn also remain unavailable, with Steijn not expected to feature on Saturday.
Visibly frustrated,Van Persie concluded,”So I have had nicer days.”
