A growing fan petition is challenging Bayern Munich‘s willingness to allow former player Jérôme Boateng to observe training sessions, reigniting debate over the club’s response to his past legal issues. As of Friday at 4:30 PM CEST,the change.org petition titled “Set limits against misogynistic violence: Jérôme Boateng must not return to FC Bayern” had garnered approximately 3,500 signatures.
The controversy stems from a 2024 conviction for intentional bodily harm against his former girlfriend, though Boateng received a warning rather then a criminal record. Bayern Munich has stated the arrangement-a one-week “hospitality” period involving four training observations-is not an employment offer. The petition highlights concerns about sending a message regarding violence against women, while the club maintains it is simply accommodating a request from Boateng to observe training under the guidance of the coach.
according to Bild sources, Boateng’s visit would consist of observing four training sessions over one week. A Bayern Munich spokesperson clarified,”Jerome asked the coach if he could observe a few training sessions with us. This is not an employment. if the coach holds this in store for him adn it fits into the schedule, we have nothing against it.”
