A British woman was fatally shot by her father in Texas following a heated argument about Donald Trump, authorities have confirmed. Lucy Harrison, 23, died on January 10, 2025, at her father’s home in Prosper, a suburb of Dallas, after what police described as a tragic incident.
Kris Harrison, Lucy’s father, was demonstrating a firearm to his daughter when it discharged, striking her in the chest, according to a statement provided to the Cheshire Coroner’s Court. A Collin County grand jury subsequently decided not to indict Harrison, determining the shooting to be accidental. The inquest was legally required to examine the circumstances of Lucy’s death, as reported by the BBC.
The argument that preceded the shooting centered on the former president, with Lucy expressing critical views and her father voicing support. Lucy, visiting from the UK with her boyfriend, Sam Littler, reportedly challenged her father on his political views, specifically raising concerns about allegations of sexual misconduct against Trump. Littler recounted Lucy asking her father, “How would you experience if I was the girl in that situation and I’d been sexually assaulted?”
Harrison responded by suggesting he wouldn’t be overly concerned, stating he had two other daughters, a remark that deeply upset Lucy and prompted her to depart the conversation. Later that day, as they prepared to travel to the airport, Harrison took his daughter to his bedroom to show her his firearm after watching a news segment about gun crime, Littler told the court.
“As I lifted the gun to show her I suddenly heard a loud bang. I did not understand what had happened. Lucy immediately fell,” Littler stated, according to the BBC. He found Lucy on the floor and her father “screaming, just sort of nonsense.”
Harrison admitted to having a prior history of alcohol abuse and revealed he had relapsed due to the stress of his daughter’s impending departure. He stated he consumed approximately 500 milliliters (roughly 17 ounces) of wine on the day of the incident. In a statement, he said he “fully accepted” the consequences of his actions, adding, “There isn’t a day I don’t feel the weight of that loss, a weight I will carry for the rest of my life.”
Lucy Harrison, originally from Warrington, England, was a student at Manchester Metropolitan University, where she was described as a “well-liked and valuable member of our school community” by a university spokesperson. The school stated her “hard work, dedication to her studies, and her friendly and positive presence” would be remembered.
Following Lucy’s death, her mother and boyfriend released a joint statement describing her as someone who “lived fiercely and fearlessly,” possessing “a huge capacity to love and be loved.” They noted her vibrant personality, her love of both travel and quiet moments at home, and her willingness to engage in “bold conversations.” “She was truly thriving in life and although this gives us great comfort, we are utterly heartbroken at the loss of our elegant, gorgeous Luce,” the statement read.
Prosper police conducted a “thorough investigation” into the shooting, according to a statement obtained by Fox News Digital. The investigation remains closed with no charges filed.
