Mike Patton, the frontman of Faith No More, has indicated that the band’s 2016 performance at the Troubadour in Los Angeles likely marked their final show, effectively confirming a long-suspected disbandment. The comments came during a February 24, 2026, interview on Consequence’s “Kyle Meredith With…” podcast.
When asked about a sense of closure following the 2016 tour, Patton responded, “I didn’t really feel so at the time, but, yeah, maybe,” adding, “I think that we all kind of felt it, but it was unspoken.” This suggests an internal acknowledgement among band members that the tour could represent a final chapter, even without a formal announcement at the time.
Faith No More initially disbanded in 1998 before reuniting in 2009. They released the album Sol Invictus in 2015 and subsequently toured, with their last live performance occurring in 2016. Plans for further performances in 2020 and 2021 were cancelled, initially due to the COVID-19 pandemic and later due to Patton’s mental health struggles, including a diagnosis of agoraphobia.
Patton also reflected on the cyclical nature of band dynamics, stating, “It’s funny: when you’ve been in a band or a musical situation for a period of time, you always, in the back of your head, you’re kind of thinking, ‘Well, maybe This represents it.’ And I don’t mind that feeling. I don’t see it as a sad thing. I see it as being present and being able to really appreciate it while it’s happening.”
Recent statements from other band members have hinted at the difficulties of a potential reunion. In October 2025, keyboardist Roddy Bottum expressed uncertainty about the band’s future, telling Chilean radio station Futuro, “I can’t really tell you what’s going on. I don’t even know myself. I’m getting different information, but I’m still in the band.” Bottum reiterated doubts about a future Faith No More gathering.
Drummer Mike Bordin revealed in April 2025, during a podcast appearance on “Let There Be Talk,” that Patton “is clearly not willing to tour” with the band due to his commitments with Mr. Bungle, another of Patton’s musical projects.
The passing of former Faith No More vocalist Chuck Mosley in 2017, due to complications related to substance abuse, further complicates the possibility of a full reunion with the band’s original lineup. Mosley served as the band’s primary vocalist from 1984 to 1988 and rejoined for a period in 2016.
Patton is currently scheduled to embark on a U.S. Tour with Tomahawk, one of his other bands, beginning this spring.
