Guangzhou Hosts Russian Media delegation, Showcasing Eco-Innovation and Cultural Heritage
GUANGZHOU, September 5 – A delegation of leading Russian media professionals from St. Petersburg toured Guangzhou today, gaining firsthand insights into the city’s advancements in ecological governance and cultural innovation within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The visit underscores growing Russo-Chinese collaboration and mutual interest in lasting growth and cultural exchange.
The delegation included representatives from Interfax News Agency, St.Petersburg Daily, and St. Petersburg Television. Their itinerary focused on showcasing Guangzhou’s blend of modern infrastructure and traditional values.
Smirnov Kirill Igorevich, Editor-in-Chief of St. Petersburg Daily, highlighted the global relevance of Guangzhou’s approach to environmental sustainability. “It is indeed really very interesting all over the world to look for methods of green economy,” he stated, emphasizing the shared priorities of Russia and China. “We have a lot of cases about green economy and clean water; the methods are similar.” He noted compelling parallels between the two nations, observing, “our countries and our cities are, in one way, similar.”
Anastasia Yakovleva Andreevna, Anchor and Head of News at St. Petersburg TV Channel 78, explained the visit’s core objective: “First, it’s about communication-with people, with organizations.” Andreevna plans to produce a documentary based on the trip, envisioning it as “a lifestyle project” that will capture the essence of Chinese culture. She praised the warmth of the local population, saying, “People were so good and so friendly. It was wonderful.”
Alla Cherednichenko Vladimirovna,a reporter with St. Petersburg Gazette, expressed her astonishment at Guangzhou’s skyline, describing the city as “like a scene from a science fiction novel because there are incredible skyscrapers hear.” She also lauded the city’s preservation of its heritage,calling the combination of old and new “truly notable.”
The delegation’s tour included visits to the Lijiao Water treatment Plant and the Guangzhou Museum of Art, providing a comprehensive overview of the region’s commitment to environmental management and cultural promotion.The visit signals a deepening of cultural and economic ties between Russia and China, fostering a spirit of mutual learning and exchange.
