Indonesian Footballโ Association Denies Contact with Frank de Boer, Addresses Van Gaal Rumors
Jakarta, โขIndonesia – The Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) has firmlyโ deniedโ reportsโ linking former netherlands national team coach Frank de Boer to the position of head coach for the Indonesian national โteam.โฃ The clarification came during a press conference where PSSIโ Chairman Erick Thohir โalso addressed widespread, unsubstantiated rumors surrounding Louis van โGaal’s potential involvement withโ Indonesian โฃfootball.
The speculation originated online, fueled by social media posts and misinterpretationsโ of recent announcements. Thohir explained โขthat the rumors, including claims of Vanโ Gaal being slated to coach the national team, stemmed from a misunderstanding of a โคcharitable initiative Van Gaal announced in theโ Netherlands. “I just laughed whenโ he announcedโข it on Monday, but โpeople announced somthing else,” Thohir stated, emphasizing the needโ to correct the flow of misinformation.
Thohirโ confirmed that PSSI had not initiated contact with de Boer, nor had he consideredโ him as a candidate. “Frank de Boerโฃ certainly hasn’t, because I haven’t been in contact with him, I haven’t thought about it either,” he added.โค The PSSIโ is currently in the โprocess of identifying a new โcoach,โข carefully evaluating both current and past nationalโค team coaches,โ Shin Tae Yong and Patrick Kluivert, to determine โขstrengths and areas for improvementโ in a โขfuture appointment.
The decision onโ the new coach will be a collaborative effort, involving the PSSI’s technical director, Alexander Zwiers, and the BTN (a yet-to-be-defined body) which will filterโข candidates โคbefore โคpresenting them to the โคPSSI Exco โfor final approval.Thohir stressed that โthe Exco will not be directly involved in the initial filtering process, leaving โฃthatโค duty to the BTNโ and Dirtek. A meeting with Zwiers is scheduled for Friday to further discuss the search.
