Citroen Basalt X Arrives in India with Competitive Price tag
Citroen has launched the Basalt โX in โIndia, a crossoverโ SUV boasting a โcoupe-inspired design and a surprisingly affordable price point. โคThe vehicle starts at 7.95 Lakh โฃRupee, which translates to โคapproximately IDR 140 million.
The Basalt X combines the robustโข front appearance typical of an SUV with a sloping rear silhouette.โ Citroen describes โthe car asโฃ “compact but fierce-faced,” featuring headlights directly connected to the company logoโ and aโ dominant, radically designed grille.
Inside, the Basalt โฃX aims for a premium feel with soft synthetic leather trims accented โwith gold, ventilated โfront seats, ambient lighting, and a frameless 26 cm touchscreen integrated with digital instrument panels.Safety โขfeaturesโฃ are thorough โคand standard across all โvariants, including six airbags,โฃ electronic stability program (ESP), tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), Isofix child seat anchors, hill-holdโข assist, and a perimeterโค alarm. Additional features include a 360-degree cameraโ with seven displayโข modes andโ cruise control with speed barrierโข functionality.
Citroen offers the Basalt X with two 1.2L gasoline engine options: โa turbocharged version producingโข 110 PS and 205 Nm of torque,and aโข naturally aspirated โฃversion. Transmission choicesโฃ include five-speed manual, six-speed โmanual, and six-speed automatic Torque Converter options.
A standoutโ feature of the Basalt X is its “way” smart assistant, claimed to be the first of its kind โin โขIndia. This system goes beyond standard voice commands,โฃ understandingโ the โขtone andโ context of conversations. For example, โresponding toโ a driver saying “I’mโ tired” by suggesting nearby rest stops.
“way” is fully integrated with the car’s systems, controlling features like air conditioning, door locks, navigation, telephone calls, reminders, and music playback. it also provides real-time information on flight schedules, stock markets, weather, and cricket scores, and supports voice commands for SOS, emergency warnings, and accident responses. The system supports 52โ languages and can switch languages mid-conversation. It is indeed currently offeredโค for free with the Max Automatic variant for initial orders.
