Maryland Delegationโข Denounces Trump โขManagement’s Cancellation ofโค $88 Million in Energy Projects
WASHINGTON – Maryland’s congressional delegation today sharply criticized the Trump Administration’s decision to cancel โค12 energy โคprojects across the state, totaling nearlyโข $88 million. The cuts are part of a broader $7.5 โbillion nationwideโข rescission of Energyโข Department project funds, disproportionately impacting states led byโ Democrats.
The delegation called the move โ”grossly partisanโ and likely illegal,” warning it will led to increased energy costs for Marylandโค families โคand businesses, eliminate infrastructure jobs, andโ weaken the state’s power grid resilience against โextreme weatherโ events.
“once again, the Trump Administration is โtelling American โฃfamilies and businesses: You’re on โฃyour own,” the delegation stated. “We are working to maintain these investments andโฃ lower energyโค costs for working families โคacrossโ our state.”
The cancellations come as โthe federalโ government remains inโ a partial shutdown, with the White House reportedly refusingโค to negotiate โคwith โDemocrats untilโค theโข shutdown โฃends. OMB โDirector russell Vought spearheadedโฃ the โprojectโฃ cancellations.
According to the delegation’s โfull statement, terminating the lawfully approved projects will โ”threaten good-paying โฃAmerican infrastructure jobs, and prevent local energy companies from enhancing grid flexibility and improving โthe resilience โof the power system against extreme weather.”
The Maryland delegation vowed to fight the decision โขand โpush โฃfor a resolution to the government shutdown.
This action follows a recent announcement by the White House signaling potential federal layoffs and โคfurther fundingโค cuts amid theโค ongoing โคimpasse.
