The dystopian sci-fi series “severance,” set in a workplace surroundings,has garnered the most nominations for the US TV Awards Emmy,with a chance to win in 27 categories. This Tuesday, the nominations were announced.
Following closely, the dark mini-series “The Penguin,” a spin-off from the Batman universe and starring Colin Farrell in the lead role, received three nominations. The Hollywood satire “The Studio” and the third season of “The White Lotus,” which is set in a luxury spa resort in Thailand, also secured 23 nominations each, according to AFP.
Seth Rogen, a co-creator of “The Studio,” could potentially win three awards for best acting performance, screenplay, and direction. Though, the star of the ceremony might also be 15-year-old Owen Cooper, who is nominated for an Emmy for best supporting performance in a supporting role for his portrayal of a thirteen-year-old boy suspected of murder in the adolescent mini-series from Netflix.
In the category of best female acting performance, 77-year-old Kathy Bates received a nomination for her role in the detective series “Matlock.”
In addition to “Severance,” other contenders for Best Drama include “Andor,” “The Diplomat,” “Slow Horses,” “Urgent,” “The Last of Us,” and “The White Lotus.” For Best Comedy, besides “The Studio,” the nominated series are “Course,” “The Bear,” “Only Murders in the Building,” “The Element of Willard Abbott,” “Nobody Wants this,” “The Truth Therapy,” and “What We Do in the Darkness.”
the jury also nominated “Black Mirror,” “die for Sex,” “adolescent,” “Monster: The Lyle and Erika Menendez Story,” and “The Penguin” in various categories.
The winners of the 77th edition of the Emmy Awards will be revealed on September 14 in Los Angeles.The event is scheduled to be hosted by comedian Nate Bargatz, as reported by AP. Last year, the past drama “Shogun,” set in feudal Japan, achieved a record of 18 statuettes.
