2026 European Handball โChampionship to be Hosted Across Denmark, Norway, and Sweden
HERNING, โDenmark – The schedule and host cities are set forโ the 2026 European Handball Championship, promising โa thrilling โคtournament spread across Denmark,โ Norway, and โฃSweden. The championship, featuring Europe’s โขtop nationalโค teams, will take place fromโฃ January 16th to February 1st,โข 2026. Thisโฃ event is โคcrucial for Olympic qualification, with โthe tournament winner securingโฃ a โคdirect pathwayโ to the 2028 Olympic Games.
The โคEuropean โฃHandball Federation (EHF) confirmed the tri-nation hosting โคarrangement, aiming to capitalize โฃon the strong handball cultures within Scandinavia. Matches will be held in cities acrossโ all three countries, including Herning, Denmark; Oslo, Norway; โand โGothenburg, Sweden, among others. Whileโค details regarding theโข full match schedule are stillโ forthcoming, โขthe โEHFโ has indicated โtickets for the German preliminary round games in Herning currently start around 160 euros for a package covering all their matches, with individual day tickets costing approximately 60 euros. However, semi-final day tickets in Herning are currently sold out, with only โVIP packagesโ exceeding 400โ euros remaining. All tickets are valid for all games played at a venue onโ a โgiven day; single-game ticketsโ will not be available.
Looking ahead, the EHF is also planning a notableโค restructuring of continental competitions with the introduction of the “European Handball โGames” in 2030. This new โคtournament, featuring โthe eight best men’s and women’s nationalโฃ teams, will be held every four years in September and directly determine a European qualifier for the Olympic Games.
