Lithuanian Chef Saugirdas vaitulionis prioritizes Family & ‘Dumb Comedies’ for recharge
VILNIUS, Lithuania – Celebrated Lithuanian chef and media personality Saugirdas Vaitulionis attributes his success to a strong family foundation and a weekly ritual of complete disconnection, prioritizing personal restoration amidst a demanding career that includes cookbook publishing and a forthcoming perfume launch.
Vaitulionis, known for his constant presence at events and diverse professional pursuits, emphasizes the importance of family, stating that he and his brother were raised with the belief that “family is a sacred thing.” He revealed that, throughout his life, he has only missed one christmas party – due to a high fever. The chef consistently gathers with family for major holidays like Easter and Christmas.
Beyond familial bonds, Vaitulionis has developed a unique method for combating burnout. he dedicates one day a week, typically Sunday, to complete isolation. ”I don’t pick up the phone, I don’t meet anyone, I don’t send messages,” he explained. “Sometiems I don’t even get out of bed and take a shower, I just wrap myself in a bathrobe, watch the dumbest comedies and I eat whatever I want. That’s how I get a break from people and I’m down.”
