Colombian Stars See Market Values Plummet in 2025,Díaz and Durán Lead Decline
ISTANBUL,TURKEY – A recent Transfermarkt report reveals a significant downturn in the market values of several Colombian footballers playing abroad, with Liverpool winger Luis Díaz and Fenerbahçe forward Jhon Jader Durán experiencing the most substantial drops. The findings highlight a challenging year for Colombian talent in Europe, marked by injuries, inconsistent performances, and disciplinary issues impacting player worth.
The devaluation trend reflects broader struggles for these players to maintain their form and secure consistent playing time. While Díaz remains one of Colombia’s most valuable assets, a €15 million decrease in his value underscores the competitive pressures faced by players at top European clubs. Durán’s decline, a loss of €5 million, is notably concerning given his potential and recent setbacks.
According to the report, here is a ranking of the ten Colombians who have experienced the largest decreases in market value:
- Luis Díaz (Liverpool) -€15.0 M /€70.0 M
- Jhon Jader Durán (Fenerbahçe) -€5.0 M /€35.0 M
- Jefferson Lerma (Crystal palace) -€4.0 M /€10.0 M
- Yaser Asprilla (Girona) -€3.0 M /€15.0 M
- Mateus Uribe (Atlético Nacional) -€2.9 M /€0.6 M
- Devis Vásquez (AS Roma) -€2.5m /€1.5m
- Luis Sinisterra (Cruzeiro) -€2.0 M /€15.0 M
- Jhon Córdoba (Krasnodar) -€2.0 M /€12.0 M
- Wilmar barrios (Zenit) -€2.0 M /€8.0 M
- Rafael Santos Borré (Internacional) -€2.0 M /€6.0 M
Durán, once considered a promising talent after his time at Aston Villa, has struggled to establish himself as a regular starter in Turkey and has faced challenges in earning consistent opportunities with the Colombian national team. His decline is attributed to recurrent muscle injuries and reported disciplinary issues. Lerma, Asprilla, Uribe, Vásquez, Sinisterra, Córdoba, Barrios, and Borré all experienced drops of €2.0 million or more, signaling a wider trend of diminished market value for Colombian players abroad.
