U.S. Approves $1.23โ Billion Missile Sale to Germany for F-35 Program
WASHINGTON โD.C. – The U.S. State Departmentโฃ has approved aโ potential โ$1.23 billion sale of AIM-120D-3 โขAdvanced โMedium Range โAir-to-Air Missiles (AMRAAM) โto โฃGermany, bolstering the nation’s air defenceโค capabilities as it integrates the F-35โ fighter jetโ into its โฃarmed forces. RTX Corporation is the principal contractor forโ theโ sale.
The deal, announced today, provides Germany with advanced air-to-air โคweaponry crucialโข for enhancing its ability to counter current and futureโ threats, and supports joint planning, training, and operationalโฃ requirements with NATO allies. This acquisition is particularly significant as Germany modernizes its air force andโฃ prepares forโค increasinglyโข complex โฃsecurity challenges in Europe. The State Department affirmed Germany will readily โคincorporate the missiles into its military infrastructure.
The AIM-120D-3 represents the most advanced iteration โคof โขthe AMRAAMโค family, benefiting from updates stemming from theโ U.S. air Force’s Form, Fit, and โFunction (F3R) upgrade. โฃThese improvements include software enhancements, updated circuitโค cards for the missile guidance system, andโค increased resilience against electronic warfare tactics. โ
