Panama Authorities Seize 32 Packages of Suspected Drugs Marked with ‘Super Mario’ Imagery
Panama City, Panama – National aeronavalโ Service (Senan) agents intercepted โ32 packages of alleged illegalโฃ substances hidden โwithin a refrigerated container at a โPacific port terminal. The cargo originated in San Vicente, Chile, was transiting โthrough Panama, and destined for Sydney, Australia. โ
The drugs were concealed within โขthe cooling panels of the container.โ Authorities wereโ alerted to the irregularity through aeronaval intelligence and coordinated with the Panama Drug Prosecutorโข for a search. Notably, the packages were marked with the iconic character from the “Super Mario” video game franchise-a tactic commonly used byโข drug traffickers toโข identify their shipments.
This seizure โbrings Senan’s โคtotal drug packages confiscated to 35,447 as the beginning of 2024, recoveredโข through 88 operations nationwide.
“Each operation reinforces โsecurity in the national territory and demonstrates that drug trafficking always remains a step back when you runโข into the law,” stated Senan officials.
