Actor Park Ji-hoon is preparing for a physically demanding role as a boxer in the upcoming tvN drama, Promoter, according to industry sources. The project, slated for potential broadcast next year, reunites director Lee Jong-seok (Negotiation, It’s a Fairytale but Rated R) with writer Ryu Kyung-sun, creator of the popular webtoon Long Live the King.
Park Ji-hoon’s casting follows his critically acclaimed performance in the action series Weak Hero Class 1 & 2, where he demonstrated “intense yet precise action,” setting a high expectation for his boxing portrayal. To prepare for the role, Park Ji-hoon is currently undergoing boxing training, aiming to develop a physique and skillset comparable to a professional boxer.
The announcement comes as Park Ji-hoon balances multiple projects. He recently completed filming The Man Who Lives with the King, where he plays the exiled former king Dan Jong alongside Yoo Hae-jin, which was released on February 4th. He is also set to appear in the Tving original series Becoming a Cook Legend, scheduled for release later this year.
The boxing world depicted in Promoter will focus on the “intense world of growth and competition,” offering a new challenge for Park Ji-hoon as he transitions into more action-oriented roles.
