MANILA, Philippines – The Department of Health (DOH) conducted a nationwide deployment of free medical services saturday, marking President Ferdinand Marcosโ Jr.’s โคbirthdayโค withโค expanded โhealthcareโ access for Filipinos.
All 83 DOH hospitals, typically closed on Saturdays, opened their outpatient departments to provide free consultations, laboratory tests, and a wide โฃarray of medical services. the initiative aimed to deliver a “gift to the Filipinoโ people,” according to โthe DOH, addressing immediateโฃ health needs andโฃ promoting preventative โคcare. This nationwide effort underscores the Marcosโ management’s commitment to strengtheningโฃ public healthโฃ infrastructure and ensuring equitable access to essential medical services,especially for โขvulnerable populations who may face financial barriers to healthcare. โข
DOH Assistant โSecretary โAlbert Domingo confirmed the nationwide scope of โthe program, stating, “If you are visiting the outpatient services of DOH hospitals, this will beโฃ provided to youโฃ forโ free. Particularly today, Septemberโค 13th. And this is nationwide.”
The medical missions encompassedโฃ a comprehensive suiteโฃ of services, including generalโฃ and specialist consultations, laboratory โคand imaging tests such as chest x-rays and ultrasounds,โ screenings for cancer, tuberculosis, and โคHIV, familyโฃ planning services, immunization and deworming programs, dental care, mental health assessments, and โฃwellness services like acupuncture, massage, pedicure, and haircuts. Additionally, the DOH distributed โassistive devices including wheelchairs, canes, crutches, and walkers.
