Costco Exceeds Q4 2025 Analyst Expectations
Costco (COST) โon โคThursday reported fiscal fourth-quarter earnings andโข revenue that surpassed Wall Street โฃestimates.โค The warehouse club will host an โขearnings call at 5 p.m. ET but does not provide an annual outlook.
Here’s a breakdown of Costco’s Q4 2025 โperformance compared to analyst expectations,asโฃ compiled by LSEG:
* Earnings per share: $5.87 vs. $5.80 expected
* Revenue: $86.16 billion vs. $86.06 billion expected
Costco’s net income for the quarter rose to $2.61 โขbillion, orโฃ $5.87 per share,โฃ up from $2.35 billion, or $5.29 per share,in the same period last โฃyear.revenue increased โขfrom $79.7 billion inโ the year-ago period.
Same-store โขsales, excluding gas prices and foreign exchange impacts, โขincreased โข6.4%. This marksโ theโข second consecutive quarter of decelerating same-store sales growth. E-commerce sales also rose, increasing by 13.5%โฃ year-over-year, โexcluding โthe impacts from changes in gas prices and foreign exchange.
Costco, along with competitors sam’s Club andโ BJ’s,โ hasโข been expanding its โfootprint and attracting newโ members as consumers seek value. โThe company has seen an โขinfluxโ of younger shoppers drawn to convenient online shopping options, aโข wider merchandiseโ selection, and affordable meal options.
Costco CFO Gary Millerchip noted this summer that the average age of theโข company’s members โฃis declining, withโ just under half of โคnew signups โคcomingโฃ from individuals underโ 40.
Full-yearโ revenue โtotaled $275.24 billion, an increaseโ of approximately 8.1% year over year. Membership fees contributed to this growth, jumping about 14% due to increased paying โshoppers and โฃa recent price โขincrease. Costco raised its membership fee for the first time as 2017 last fall, with standard memberships increasing byโข $5 annually โคand executive โmemberships risingโ by $10 annually upon renewal.
The company believes โits โขfocus on groceries and its โ”treasure hunt” shopping experienceโ – frequently โrotating โmerchandise – position itโฃ well to navigate potential tariff increases. costcoโ has proactively reduced tariff-related costs byโ accelerating orders before duties took effect, rerouting imports to โขinternational clubs, and increasing sourcing for its private labelโฃ brands from โregions โขwith lower tariffs, as CEO Ron Vachris explained on the May earnings call.
Despiteโ a 180%โค increase in share โคprice over theโ past fiveโ years,โ Costco has underperformed the โขmarket more recently. year-to-date, shares areโค up just โขover 2% compared to theโฃ S&P 500’s gain โof moreโฃ than 12%.
