Press release dated 12/18/2022

There were several accidents over the weekend around the Fourth Advent in the Neuwied police area: two accidents were recorded in particular on the B256 due to inadequate speed, some on slippery winter roads. Neuwied. Already on Friday (December 16), around 2.30 pm, a traffic accident occurred on the B256 between the Oberbieber / Melsbach and Rengsdorf Sd junctions. Here, a 37-year-old man lost control of his car, according to the police report probably because he wasn’t driving at the right speed, went off the road and eventually overturned several times on the slope. When the incident was recorded, officers deployed discovered that the man with minor injuries was under the influence of alcohol. An alcohol test confirmed the suspicion, a value of 0.75 per thousand was determined. A blood sample was taken from the man and his driving license confiscated. There was property damage of around 15,000 euros. Two subsequent accidents in the oncoming lane, which occurred due to neglect and debris, caused further material damage of around 16,000 euros.

Another personal injury accident occurred on the B256 on Saturday (17 December), this time between the junctions Oberbieber / Melsbach and Oberbieber / Niederbieber. At around 19:30, the 18-year-old who caused the accident skidded, probably due to inadequate speed in connection with the slippery winter road, and hit the left and right guard several times. The driver himself was unhurt, the other two minor occupants each sustaining minor injuries. The car that caused the accident has been removed. The total damage to the property was around 5000 euros.

A minor traffic accident occurred on Friday (December 16) in the Neuwied district of Block at the intersection of Mittelweg and Engerser Landstrasse at around 16:00, in which the 27-year-old who caused the accident crashed into the car of the 46 Victim in her twenties. When the accident was registered, however, deployed officials noted that the injured party had already been banned by a court in 2017 from using his foreign driving license in Germany. In addition to criminal proceedings, he now risks facing significant problems with the opposing insurance company. (PM)
