According to Attila Bessenyei, managing director of Laurel Kft., the hybrid smart shop operates as a traditional grocery store during peak hours, complete with staff and conventional checkout lanes. However, outside these times, the store transitions to a fully automated, self-service mode.

How the Self-Service System Works
During “closing hours,” customers can access the store’s full product range by following a few simple steps:

- Complete the registration process, including scanning both sides of their ID card.
- Use the app to unlock the store’s door,equipped with camera systems.
- Shop as usual, noting that electronic shelf labels display current prices.
- Check out at self-service kiosks.
- Contact a remote dispatcher for assistance if needed.
