Racing vs. [Opponent – if known, otherwise omit]: Player Ratings & Performance Review

Racing Club salvaged a 1-1 draw against Tigre on Saturday, February 26, 2026, in a match marked by a late equalizer and a concerning injury to forward Adrián Martínez. The result further complicates Racing’s position in the Torneo Apertura, leaving them struggling to discover consistency.

The match saw a mixed performance from Racing’s starting eleven. Goalkeeper Facundo Cambeses proved vital, making several key saves to keep Racing in contention, though he was unable to prevent Tigre from taking the lead. Defenders Ezequiel Cannavo and Marco Di Cesare delivered solid performances, with Di Cesare notably hitting the crossbar with a long-range effort. Gabriel Rojas, described as the best right-back in Argentinian football, was a constant threat down the flank, providing the assist for Racing’s equalizer.

Yet, the midfield and attack presented challenges for Racing. Bruno Zuculini had an irregular game, failing to impact both offensively and defensively, and was partially at fault for Tigre’s goal. Adrián Fernández struggled to connect with his teammates and was ineffective in multiple positions, including a late shift as a center forward. Matko Miljevic’s game was cut short by a reckless second yellow card, leaving Racing to play a significant portion of the match with ten men.

The game took a turn for the worse when Adrián Martínez suffered an apparent ankle injury, forcing him off the pitch. The severity of the injury remains unknown, leaving Racing without a clear replacement for the forward. A visual shared on social media showed Martínez clutching his ankle after a challenge.

Racing’s equalizer came courtesy of substitute Tomás Conechny, who headed home a cross from Gabriel Rojas. Conechny’s goal, his third of the tournament, provided a much-needed boost for the team. Other substitutes, Baltasar Rodríguez and Matías Zaracho, similarly made positive contributions, adding dynamism to the midfield. Duván Vergara had a late opportunity but failed to convert.

The draw leaves Racing facing an uphill battle in the Torneo Apertura. They are scheduled to face River in the round of 16 of the Clausura, a match that will test their resilience and ability to perform under pressure. The team will also be anxiously awaiting updates on the extent of Adrián Martínez’s injury.
