Germany Draws with Colombia in U17 World Cup Opener
Doha, Qatar – Germany’s campaign at the expanded 48-team FIFA U17 World Cup began with a 1-1 draw against Colombia on Monday. The match, played in Qatar, saw both sides find the back of the net, setting the stage for a challenging group stage for the young german squad.
This year’s tournament marks a significant expansion for the U17 World Cup, increasing the number of participating nations from 24 to 48. Germany now faces crucial upcoming matches against North Korea on Friday at 2:00 PM MEZ and El Salvador on Monday at 2:30 PM MEZ, needing positive results to advance from Group G. The top two teams from each group, along with the eight best third-placed teams, will progress to the round of 16.
