Detroit โHouse Explosion Confirmed as Natural Gas Leak
A house explosion in Detroit flattenedโข the west side of a vacant residence โon thursday, Nov. 13, but causedโ no injuries as no oneโ was inside at the time, according to the Detroit Fire Department. Investigators responding to reports of a gas leakโ confirmed natural gas was โthe cause of the blast.
The vacant home,located on an undisclosed Detroit street,had been โunoccupied for approximately two years,neighbors told authorities. A neighbor โคreported โhearing the soundโ of gas leaking prior to the explosion, prompting the examination. The incident underscores the importance of reporting suspected gas leaks and highlights DTE Energy’s role in ensuring gas safety.
Detroit fire Chief Reginald Harper, in a video statement, confirmed the neighbor’s report. “One of the neighbors complained about the โsound of โgas leaking,” Harper โsaid.
DTE Energy stated it will investigate any reported leaks, determine necessary corrective actions for property owners, and, if needed, shut off service as a safety measure.
