Jammu-Kashmir, Haryana election results: CPI-M PB says lessons for secular forces

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com October 9, 2024
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

NEW DELHI: The successful victory in Jammu and Kashmir and the unexpected standoff in Haryana will teach valuable lessons to the country’s secular forces in the coming battles against the BJP, the CPI said ( M) Politburo in statement. The National Conference and its allies are preparing to form a government in Jammu and Kashmir after six years of dictatorial rule by the central government.

The decision in Jammu and Kashmir completely rejects the decisions of the BJP government at the Center to oppose the democratic aspirations of the people by revoking Article 370, removing statehood and ‘ maliciously ending constituencies. In Haryana, the BJP won a majority in terms of seats, but the vote margin with the Congress was only 0.6 percent. The BJP has succeeded through a deep communal agenda and caste integration at the local level.

Congress should study the factors that contributed to BJP’s success including this. In a statement, the Politburo congratulated the voters who elected Muhammad Yusuf Tarigami for the third term in Kashmir’s Kulgam.
