Affordable โDental Care Now Available at Northeast Iowa Community College
Peosta, Iowa – Residents of Northeast Iowa now have access to significantly reduced-cost dental care thanks to a new clinic launched by Northeast Iowa Community College (NICC). The clinic, designedโ to address a critical need in the community, offers a range of services including examinations, x-rays, cleanings, and fillingsโ at affordable rates.
The initiative comes at a time when many are delaying essential dental care. According to recent health studies, approximately one in four adults between the ages of 35 andโ 44 currently live with untreated dental cavities. โฃ
“access to affordable dentalโ services is a major barrier for many,” explains Jennifer Kohlmeyer, NICC’s dental assisting clinic coordinator andโค faculty member.”putting off dentalโข care can lead to more serious – andโ costly – problems โคdown the road, potentially even requiring emergency treatment.”
Beyond the immediate discomfort, delaying oral โขhealth can have broader implications for overall well-being. Health officials emphasize the link between oral health and systemic conditions, noting that proactive dental care can definitely help reduceโข the risk of heart disease, respiratory infections, and complications stemming fromโ diabetes.
NICC’s clinic โaims to remove those barriers, offering a judgment-free environment for individuals without dental insurance orโฃ those โฃwho haven’t visited a dentist in some time. “We want people to know it’s okay to seek care, noโ matter howโ long it’s been,” Kohlmeyerโ states. “We provide a โคlearning-centered clinic โขfocused on gentle care and understanding.”
The clinic is โopen for appointments on Fridays from 8:00 a.m.to 4:00 p.m.between โฃJanuary and March. To learn more or schedule an appointment, contact Jennifer Kohlmeyerโ at 563-275-2279.
