Jakarta: The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) recorded cases of death due to dengue hemorrhagic fever (DBD) reaching 316 cases in 213 districts/cities in Indonesia. To date, dengue fever cases in Indonesia have reached 38,462 cases.

“DHF cases in the 12th week of 2024 will reach 38,462 cases and the death rate will be 316 cases,” said Head of the Communications and Public Services Bureau of the Ministry of Health, Siti Nadia Tarmizi when contacted, Friday, March 29 2024.

This figure is considered very high when compared to 2023. In the 12th week of last year, dengue fever cases were only 17,434 cases, so in 2024 the increase will double.

“Likewise, the death rate increased in the 12th week of last year to 118 cases. Meanwhile this year in the same period there have been 316 cases,” he said.

He appealed to people who have symptoms of dengue fever such as continuous vomiting, stomach pain, pale hands and feet, weak pulse, lethargy, decreased urine output, etc. to immediately check with the nearest health facility.

The increase in dengue fever cases in Indonesia is due to weather factors which influence the mosquito life cycle which is also increasing. The factors causing this are the shift from an extended dry season to a rainy season, to climate change and El Nino.

Weather changes affect mosquitoes because the mosquito’s life cycle from laying eggs to adult mosquitoes also becomes faster. As a result, there has been an increase in the Aedes aegypti mosquito. (M Iqbal Al Machmudi)

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever Outbreak in Ponorogo: Cases Spike at Dr. Harjono Regional Hospital

Ponorogo – Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) in Ponorogo is rampant. Cases have continued to increase over the last 3 months, especially at Dr Harjono Ponorogo Regional Hospital.

Throughout January 2024, 30 dengue fever patients were recorded at the hospital. Throughout February the number increased to 130 patients.

Currently, as of Wednesday (13/3/2024) there have been 90 dengue fever patients being treated. A total of 41 of the patients were children.

“Today there are 21 adult patients and 14 pediatric patients, so a total of 35 patients are being treated,” said Head of Public Relations at Dr. Harjono Hospital, Sugianto, to reporters, Wednesday (13/3/2024).

Sugianto said that one of the 41 child patients died last Tuesday (12/3). The patient is a 10 year old girl, a resident of Madusari Village, Siman District, Ponorogo.

Initially, the patient entered the ER at 16.03 WIB. Then he was admitted to the ICU because his condition worsened.

“At 20.00 WIB, last Tuesday (12/3) he died with a diagnosis of Dengue Shock Syndrome (DSS),” said Sugianto.

Regional Hospital pediatrician Dr Harjono Eko Jaenudin confirmed that in the last 3 weeks there has been a significant increase in dengue fever cases in children. Especially children aged 3 to 13 years.

“One patient was declared dead last night because his condition was serious. We said dengue shock syndrome,” said Eko.

According to him, when he was taken to the hospital. The child’s condition had a weak pulse, cold body, and he even vomited fresh blood. He also experienced seizures and shortness of breath. He was treated for 2 hours in the ICU but his life could not be saved.

“We urge parents if their child has a fever for 2-7 days, accompanied by coughing, runny nose, vomiting, and dizziness, then have him checked immediately. They are worried about dengue fever or other complications,” added Eko.

Eko explained that eradicating mosquito nests around residential areas must be increased. Apart from that, other prevention, such as using anti-mosquito lotion, can also be done.

“Hanging clothes must also be folded, curtains must also be washed diligently, eradication of mosquito nests must also be carried out regularly, because this is the transition season. Even though there is fogging, cleaning the home environment must be the main thing,” concluded Eko.

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever Cases on the Rise in Jakarta – Ministry of Health Urges Public Awareness

Jakarta –

Cases of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) at the beginning of this year showed an increase in numbers and deaths. The public is advised to be more alert regarding the transmission of diseases transmitted by the Aedes Aegypti mosquito.

According to data from the Ministry of Health, cases of dengue hemorrhagic fever or DHF until the end of February were reported to be higher than the previous year. In the 8th week or end of February 2024 there were at least 15,977 cases of dengue fever reported with 124 deaths throughout Indonesia. Meanwhile, in January 2023, 12,502 cases of dengue fever were reported with 101 deaths.

Director of Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases at the Ministry of Health, Dr. Imran Pambudi, said that the occurrence of El Nino, which has hot and dry temperatures, followed by La Nina, which is accompanied by rain, will have an impact on the development of mosquito breeding sites and egg hatching. This is what causes the risk of dengue transmission to be high.

“The dengue fever cycle is indeed December, January, February. It is indeed high. Every year is like that, if we compare it with 2022, it is the highest, cases in 2024 this February are lower compared to 2022,” he said at a press conference. at the Indonesian Ministry of Health office, Tuesday (5/3/2024).

“But if we compare to 2023, the cases are indeed higher this year. The high number of dengue fever cases is also related to rainfall. Last year it was a dry El Nino. This year it is La Nina, there is more rain,” he added. .

Imran reported that the case fatality rate due to dengue fever was highest in the Central Java region, namely Salahtiga and Kendal.

Therefore, he encouraged every district throughout Indonesia to be ready to face dengue hemorrhagic fever. The preparations made include reminding the public to eradicate mosquito nests (PSN) and preparing health service facilities including medicines.

“It’s just that the rain right now isn’t polite, it rains for a day, then it’s hot, then it rains again for 4 days. It’s actually rain like this that’s dangerous. Because the water reservoir is irreplaceable, so there are mosquitoes that lay their eggs there so they can still hatch. It’s better “it rains heavily, or it rains every day so this keeps getting replaced,” he continued.

East Java Governor Urges Public to Eradicate Mosquito Nests to Prevent Spread of Dengue Fever

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com March 4, 2024
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SURABAYA — Acting (Pj) Governor of East Java Adhy Karyono appealed to the public to promote the movement to eradicate mosquito nests (PSN) to prevent the spread of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DBD). At the peak of the rainy season, the number of cases DBD in East Java continues to increase.

Based on data on the DHF situation in East Java from January to the third week of February 2024, there were 3,638 people affected by DHF. Adhy also asked for the One House One Jumantik movement to be reactivated, at least once a week.

“By reactivating the PSN movement, it is hoped that community participation and empowerment by involving every family in eradicating dengue fever can be increased. Their role can be by carrying out inspections, monitoring and eradicating dengue mosquito larvae which are the main source of spread,” said Adhy, Monday (4/ 3/2024).

Adhy continued, the community can carry out activities to eradicate mosquito nests by implementing the 3M Plus program. This means draining or cleaning bathtubs, flower vases, pet drinkers, and dispenser coasters. Then close the water reservoir tightly.

“If it is impossible to drain or close the water reservoir, larvicide can be given,” said Adhy.

The third step is to get rid of or utilize and recycle used items such as used tires, plastic bottles and used cans. Then the most important thing is to avoid mosquito bites.

Adhy emphasized that efforts to eradicate dengue fever cannot be done alone, and must be the responsibility of the entire community. Adhy also hopes that outreach by health workers in various health service facilities can be more optimized.

Head of the East Java Health Service, dr. Erwin Astha Triyono admitted that in efforts to prevent and control dengue fever, the East Java Provincial Government has made various efforts. This includes issuing a Circular Letter from the Governor of East Java regarding DHF Awareness and Control on November 29 2023.

The East Java Health Office also admitted that it had written a letter to the district/city Health Office regarding DHF Management and DHF Case Awareness to be delivered to all regional health service facilities. His party has also carried out outreach activities, carried out surveillance of dengue cases in the regions and prepared health service facilities.

Erwin advised that if a family member experiences a sudden high fever that lasts between 2 and 7 days, they should immediately go to the nearest health service facility. “Immediately check family members who have symptoms of dengue fever. The sooner the help, the better,” he said.
