Bruce Willis’ Family to Donate Brain to Research frontotemporal Dementia
Jakarta – The family of actor Bruce Willis has announced his brain will be donated to scientific research following his death, a move intended to advance understanding of frontotemporal โdementia โฃ(FTD). the declaration was made by his wife,โค Emma Heming Willis.
Willis retired from acting in 2022 after initiallyโฃ being diagnosed with aphasia, later receiving a diagnosis of FTD – a progressive brain disorder affecting interaction, behavior, โand personality.
According to Emma’s recent book, The Unexpected Journey, asโข quoted by Marca on November 28, โค2023, the โfamily agreed to the donation to aid researchersโ in studying the disease.
Scientists believe theโข donation will provide crucial insightsโค into the biological changes โassociated with FTD, including the accumulation of abnormal proteins, genetic mutations, and structural โขdamage within the brain. Researchers emphasize the importance โof this โคtype โคof research,as many aspects of FTD are undetectable through current non-invasive medical techniques.
The family, including Demi Moore and Willis’ five daughters, hopes this โฃactโ will spur โฃadvancements in the medical world and create a lasting legacy from their grief for future patients and scientific understanding. They also aim to raise public awareness of FTD, a devastating disease often less โคknown than Alzheimer’s.
