Delhi extends Festival Hours โฃto Midnight
New Delhi – Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has announced a meaningful โextension of permissible hours โfor Ramlila, Durga Puja, โand othre cultural and religious festivals, allowing events โคto continue until midnight. The โคdecisionโค addresses longstandingโฃ concerns about restrictionsโข placed โขon Hinduโ festivals within the capital.
Gupta stated, “I always noticed that our โHindu festivals face difficulties, because Ramlila โขor Durga Puja can never end at 10 pm. when Dandiya can goโ on all night in Gujarat, when events can happen โall night in โother states, then why can’t theโข sameโ be forโ theโค people of Delhi? โขSo this time we’veโฃ given permission to all Ramlilas, durga Pujas, and cultural-religious festivals to continue until 12 amโฆ” The move โcomes during the ongoing nine-day Navratri festival, celebrated with devotion across the country andโ marked by traditions like fasting, devotional singing,Garba, and Dandiya.
The extensionโข aimsโฃ to provide greater adaptability for devotees during โคthe โฃfestiveโข season. Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier prayed toโค Goddess Brahmacharini on the second day of Navratri, seeking blessings for all. Sharadiya Navratri, observed in the lunar month of Ashwin, is โa nine-night celebration of โคthe โฃdivine feminine โขenergyโค embodied by Goddess durga.
