Neubiberg Mayor Thomas Pardeller Admits to Cocaine Possession
NEUBIBERG, GERMANY – Thomas Pardeller, the current mayor of Neubiberg, has publicly admitted to being caught with 0.2 grams of cocaine near a Munich nightclub. The incident occurred recently, leading to police intervention where Pardeller allegedly resisted officers before being subdued and taken into custody, according to an initial police statement. He is now facing charges related to the possession of the drug.
Pardeller issued a personal statement acknowledging his “huge mistake” and ”huge stupidity,” expressing deep regret and apologizing to those who support him. He also revealed recent personal bereavements and intends to use a period of reflection “to return with new strength, humility and clarity.”
The CSU‘s Neubiberg local association has voiced it’s full support for Pardeller, despite the charges. The association characterized the incident as a “moment of weakness” during a “crisis in his private life,” and a mistake “with which he has harmed no one but himself.” They emphasized Pardeller’s “outstanding work as mayor and his unprecedented commitment” to the community.
Notably, the association affirmed its support for a “restrictive drug policy” while concurrently advocating for Pardeller, arguing that he deserves a second chance for taking duty.
The ultimate decision regarding Pardeller’s future rests with the electorate. The CSU local board is urging voters to forgive the “personal misstep” of what they describe as an or else “outstanding professional and exemplary person.”
Pardeller is currently on sick leave, with his deputy, Kilian Körner, assuming his official duties “until further notice.” The next local elections in Bavaria are scheduled for March 8, 2026.
