The assault took place on December 12. The boy was in court for prohibited possession of weapons and money laundering. He was convicted of that.

According to sources from NH News the prosecutor was struck down. The victim suffered facial injuries. The Public Prosecution Service (OM) has filed a report and confirms that the incident is being investigated.

Ridouan Taghi’s Lawyers Resign from Defense, Causing Stir in Marengo Process

Ridouan Taghi is again without lawyers. The team that has assisted him since June has resigned from the defense out of dissatisfaction with the court’s decisions. “There’s no point in continuing.”

The lawyers say in a press release that they have the feeling that since their entry into the Marengo process they have only been obstructed by the Amsterdam court. Taghi would not be given a good defense.

It is once again causing a stir in the Marengo process. The lawyers’ decision could lead to further delays in the five-year liquidation process with Taghi as the main suspect. The verdict was scheduled for the end of February next year.

The lawyers say that Taghi himself has indicated that he no longer needs a lawyer in this final phase of the Marengo process.

Taghi found himself without a lawyer in April after his lawyer Inez Weski was arrested. She is suspected of having passed on messages from her then client to the outside world. According to the Public Prosecution Service, the lawyer was part of Taghi’s criminal organization.

Weski almost immediately decided to drop the defense, after which Michael Ruperti stepped forward in early June. He said he would put together a new defense team on Taghi’s behalf. Three weeks later it turned out to consist of Ruperti himself, Arthur van der Biezen and Sjoerd van Berge Henegouwen.

Request for postponement was rejected

The lawyers quickly requested a nine-month extension. They said they needed that time to read the criminal file. That request was rejected.

In October, the lawyers decided to challenge the court. The judges did not agree to the request to hear Sil A.. The elite soldier says that he was approached at the end of 2019 with the question whether it was possible to transfer Taghi, who was still at large, to the Netherlands and even eliminate him if necessary.

The court saw no added value in the interrogation, and confidence in the judges was lost. The challenge was not successful and so the Marengo process could continue. At the next hearing, A. was present again and was again asked if he could be heard. It was also requested again to give Taghi’s lawyers more time.

According to the lawyers, these requests have again been rejected. They say that at the next hearing – next Thursday – they will also not be given the opportunity to ask questions about the abuse of Taghi shortly after his arrest.

For the lawyers, it is a sign that the Marengo process must continue at all costs. For that reason they had asked for the case against Taghi to be separated, without success. “We thank you for playing the role of a mock defense.”

Netherlands Ex-Soldier Demands 3.5 Year Prison Sentence for Killing Cyclist and Assaulting Girlfriend: Court Ruling on Jan 15

The Public Prosecution Service (OM) is demanding a prison sentence of 3.5 years against a 29-year-old ex-soldier from Helvoirt in Brabant. Yourrie W. is suspected of killing an 83-year-old cyclist and assaulting his girlfriend and holding him hostage.

According to the Public Prosecution Service, W. drove 122 kilometers per hour on August 10 on a road where 60 kilometers per hour is permitted. He was driving under the influence of amphetamine and alcohol. The man hit the cyclist from behind on the Werkmansweg in Weert. The 83-year-old victim did not survive the accident.

The Public Prosecution Service demands a prison sentence of 3.5 years, of which one year is conditional. The officer spoke of “very dangerous driving behavior”. According to him, there is recklessness, the most serious form of manslaughter. In addition to the prison sentence, he demanded a driving ban of five years.

The suspect says he cannot remember anything about the ride, but does remember that he was “very shocked” by the blow. When he noticed that the victim was unresponsive, W. decided to drive away from the accident and tried to take his own life. The ex-soldier crashed the car into a tree a few 100 meters away.

“I didn’t want to survive,” said W. He suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder and has an alcohol and drug addiction. He admitted to drinking gin that day. “That cannot be justified.” He told the relatives he was “terribly sorry”.

W. also suspected of assaulting and taking her girlfriend hostage

W. is also suspected of assaulting and locking up his girlfriend. They had a toxic relationship and were both significantly under the influence of narcotics, the prosecutor reported.

W. denies having hit and punched his girlfriend. He says she was suicidal and he didn’t want to let her go in that condition.

He wanted to escape the chaos after her departure and drove to a friend’s house on August 10. He got into the car full of emotion: “I was ashamed of what had happened. I wanted to leave the village.”

The court will make its ruling on January 15.

Explosions took place in various cities in the Netherlands during the night from Friday to Saturday. The number of explosions in 2023 will reach a record number. This time it was a hit in Dordrecht, Rotterdam, The Hague, Huizen and Almere.

In Dordrecht there was an explosion early on Saturday morning at a building on the Houttuinen. No one was present in the building in the city center and no one was injured. There is material damage. There is at least one suspect in the image of the police, who are looking for witnesses.

An explosion in the Jan van Vuchtstraat in Rotterdam damaged the porch of a residential complex during the night from Friday to Saturday. No one was injured by the explosion. The suspect is still on the run.

In The Hague, the facade of a restaurant was damaged early on Saturday morning, probably by an explosive. The police suspect that this case involved violent fireworks. The incident took place around 5:30 am. Images show damage to the front door of the building on Hobbemaplein. The windows were blown off the door.

Vlaardingen will receive extra security after incidents

It was also a hit in Almere. Several homes were evacuated there during the night from Friday to Saturday after an explosion at a home on the Freyjaplantsoen. Around 12:45 a.m. a “huge bang” was heard here, probably the result of an explosion. Two residents of the house that was probably hit were at home at the time of the explosion. No one was injured.

There have been a striking number of explosions at homes and buildings throughout the country this year. On Friday evening it was announced that the South Holland city of Vlaardingen is increasing security in the Oostwijk district due to the recent explosions there.

Manslaughter of Parcel Deliverer in Hoogvliet District: Public Prosecution Service Demands Ten Years in Prison

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com December 16, 2023

In an appeal, the Public Prosecution Service (OM) has demanded ten years in prison against the suspect of manslaughter of a parcel deliverer in the Hoogvliet district of Rotterdam. That is two years more than the prison sentence he received last year.

In February last year, suspect Yassin El B. and the 42-year-old parcel deliverer from Rotterdam got into an argument about a package. The PostNL delivery person wanted to deliver it to El B., but the doorbell did not work due to a power failure. The suspect was waiting for the package and followed the delivery person.

Because the package had already been deregistered in the system, the delivery person did not want to hand it over to the suspect. A fight then broke out. The delivery man fell to the ground when the suspect gave him a kickboxing kick in the neck. He suffered a skull fracture and died a few days later.

The court sentenced El B. to eight years in prison last year for serious assault with fatal consequences. The Public Prosecution Service had then demanded six years, but the court found that too little due to the great suffering of the victim’s family. He was the father of two young children.

The Public Prosecution Service believes that El B, as a “trained kickboxer”, should have been aware of the possible consequences of his kick and does not believe that he acted in self-defense. The Public Prosecution Service concludes on appeal that there was manslaughter and therefore demands ten years in prison.
