The upcoming Asia Cup cricket tournament is reportedly set to be held in the UAE, a decision influenced by the ongoing political dynamics between India and Pakistan. While the UAE has been identified as the host nation for this year’s event, the final schedule is yet to be officially confirmed. This development follows earlier reports suggesting the tournament might be hosted in India, with the Board of Control for Cricket in india (BCCI) holding hosting rights.

The decision regarding the tournament’s venue was reportedly made during a meeting of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) in the UAE, attended by BCCI vice president Rajiv shukla. However, BCCI Secretary Devijit Siaka has stated that an official proclamation regarding the Asia Cup will be made soon.

India and Pakistan in the same Group?

This year’s tournament will be played in the T20 format.Speculation is rife that both India and Pakistan will be placed in the same group. If this occurs, the two arch-rivals are expected to face each other at least twice during the competition. Their initial encounter is anticipated to be the second match of the tournament, with a potential second clash in the Super Six stage.

The last time India and Pakistan met was during the Champions Trophy in Dubai. That tournament was initially slated to be held in Pakistan. However, due to India’s refusal to send its team to Pakistan, a hybrid model was adopted, with all of India’s matches, including the semi-final and final, taking place in Dubai.
