Nebraska Public Power District Nears Completion of Storm Damage Repairs
FRIEND, Neb. – โThe Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) is in the finalโค stages of repairing damage caused by storms that struck August 9th nearโค Friend and dorchester, utilizing โa helicopter to expedite the process.
On Thursday, a โhelicopter transported large wooden โคstructures to rebuild 41 damaged transmission structures. NPPD officials stated this aerial construction method – building components off-site and lowering them into pre-drilled holes – is the safest and most efficient approach.
While no โขcustomers are currently without power due to the downed line,โ NPPD spokesperson Grant Otten emphasized the importance of swift repairs. “It is crucialโฃ for the crews to get those โฃrestored in a safe and timely fashion, especially as โyou get into the winterโค months where we get blizzards,” Otten โฃsaeid. “You can have power lines โฃdamagedโค orโฃ customer outages; it’s โcritically important to get those lines back up.”
crewsโค plan to continue using the helicopter for repairsโค on โขFriday, โand โขthe public is asked to โobserve from a safeโค distance and refrain from โขflying โdrones in the work area. NPPD has not yet resolute the total cost of the storm damage.
