Over 3,000 CPS Energy customers in Bexar County are currently without power as of Tuesday afternoon, according to the utility company. The outages began around 2:30 p.m. and are impacting areas across the county, leaving residents and businesses grappling with disruptions. CPS Energy crews are working to determine the cause and restore service, but an estimated time for full restoration has not yet been provided.
The widespread outages come amid rising temperatures, raising concerns for vulnerable populations and increasing the urgency of repairs. CPS Energy reports the affected areas are scattered throughout Bexar County, making pinpointing a single cause challenging. Customers are encouraged to report outages and check for updates on the CPS Energy website or thru their mobile app.
As of 3:45 p.m., CPS Energy’s outage map showed 3,089 customers affected. The utility company stated via X (formerly Twitter) that they are aware of the situation and are dispatching crews to investigate and resolve the issue. “we are aware of widespread outages impacting customers in Bexar County. Crews are working to identify the cause and restore power as quickly and safely as possible,” the post read.
Customers without power are advised to take precautions, including avoiding downed power lines and using flashlights instead of candles. CPS Energy provides resources for outage preparedness and safety information on its website.
