Silverbridge sisters Share Cancer Journey,Urge Breast Self-Checksโข at all Ages
ARMAGH,NORTHERN IRELAND – Two sistersโ from Silverbridge,County Armagh, are sharing their recent breast cancer diagnoses weeks apartโค in a bid to raise awareness about the importance of early detection, nonetheless of age. Aislingโข adn รine, normally intensely private, have launched an Instagram page, ‘Silverbridge Sisters,’ to document their experiences and encourage others to prioritize their health.
The sisters’ story highlights โฃthe critical need for regular self-exams and proactive healthcare. While breast โcancer is often associated with older women, diagnosesโค are increasingly occurring in younger individuals. Aisling explained the initial periodโ followingโ diagnosis is intensely difficult, lasting roughly 8 to 10 days, but is followed by a period of approximately 10 days where individuals can begin to feel more like themselves. “It’s that โคreassurance I can โgive her that she willโ get to have thoseโฃ days and be able to do normal things,” she said, referring to โher sister รine.
The ‘Silverbridge Sisters’ Instagram page serves as a platform for support, offering a spaceโ for anyone to connect, share experiences, or simply follow their journey. The sisters hope their openness will empower at least one person to perform a self-check or seek medical attention if they notice any changes. Aislingโฃ initially felt anxiety about publicly acknowledging her diagnosis, describing it as “admitting to the world” she had cancer and “putting a label” on herself and รine. However, the overwhelming support and positive messages receivedโ sinceโค launching โฃthe page have brought a sense ofโค “peace.” Many โhave been encouraged to check their breasts, while others have simply offered words of encouragement.
